I served temporary duty in Kuwait 10/2010 thru 8/2011 at the M.S.F. I limited to driving, service, inspecting, repairing and completing MWO in a timely manner. From 4/2011 thru 8/2011 I worked the Cougar modification program with Force Protection on a voluntary basis. My duties and responsibilities as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic are to perform the following task on Tactical and Combat Vehicles to include Wheel Vehicles, HMMWV Family. As a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic, I am assigned to work on major minor systems and components independently as well as a member of a team. I instruct and assign task to upper graded mechanics. I train upper graded mechanics on all major and minor repair, rebuild procedures, troubleshooting techniques, adjustments and operational testing. I facilitate requisitioning materials using supply list, DMWRs, as well as other pertinent technical manuals to ensure that all material is requisitioned on a timely basis. I am familiar with the quality control process and the ISO 9002 quality system. I perform limited technical inspections (LTI), on various types of combat vehicles to evaluate serviceable, unserviceable, assists prior to induction. I identify all major missing components, and document on the LTO check lists, I conduct in process inspection, Mechanical Inspection and final inspection, I use expert judgment for acceptance when specific requirements were not available on this equipment without technical assistance. During assembly phase on various types of combat equipment I troubleshoot and correct defects found in any hydraulic, pneudraulic, electrical and mechanical system that fail during test, calibration, installation or final stage of the vehicle assembly. I use inspection plans, Depot Maintenance Directives, Technical Manuals, DMWRs, modification Instruction, to familiarize myself with equipment, components, sub-components that are to be built, repaired, and inspected. I conduct a final and operational inspection of various types of combat vehicles, assemblies, sub-assemblies to determine serviceability. I reject or accept equipment and components, that do not meet the criteria specified in the Technical Manuals, Statement of Work, DMWRs. I determine the type and extent of necessary repair, select and comply with all appropriate repair specifications and compliance with manufactures specifications. I have the ability to work independently without supervision on all assigned task. I review and utilize complex schematics and blueprints to determine extent of corrective actions needed to repair components and sub-components and correct all defects and malfunctions on electrical, hydraulic, and pneudraulic systems on various combat vehicles. On this Heavy Mobile Equipment I perform major and minor repair, overhaul, inspection, modifications, rebuild and I.R.O.A.N. procedures, operational checks, exercising of the vehicle and the disassembly of the Heavy Mobile Equipment, including components and sub-components. I am responsible for work order execution, troubleshooting, major assemblies and systems at the intermediate level. I verify completeness and operation of vehicles. Perform major rebuild to Heavy Mobile Equipment that contain hydraulic, pneumatic, pneudraulic or mechanical systems, suspension assembly, engine and transmission assembly, fuel, coolant, air cooled, electrical and fire suppression system with tools and features which are designed for combat equipment. I share my knowledge with other mechanics selecting tools. Deciding on techniques to apply and carry out assignments given to me by the work leader or supervisor. I determine parts needed such as hydraulic components, hoses, steering box, hydraulic reservoir, batteries, suspension, wiring harness, brake components, and shock absorbers using information and the parts manual or by making comparison with samples. I have the ability to recognize potential problems and contact my leader or supervisor for advice and the proper methods of repair if a decision is above my level. I make adjustments and finalize settings in accordance with specifications in manufactures manual and test the completed product. My work is subject to functions tests and inspections for quality of workmanship and compliance by Quality Control Inspector using accepted trade practices, technical manuals, blueprints, rebuild standards, I.R.O.A.N. standards, torques specifications and modification instructions. I rebuild major components using the tools of the trade but not limited to wrenches, grinders, adjustable box tubing wrenches, pneumatic wrenches, torque wrenches, standard tools, micrometers, depth gauge, magnetic dial indicator, metric tools and feeler gauges. I recondition, rebuild, overhaul and repair using drills, screwdrivers, jacks, presses, boring tools, valve grinders, ring compressors, air pressure gauges, snap ring pliers, punches, reamers, ez-outs, pry bars, tap and die sets, scrappers, cabinet blast machines, solvents and air activated sand blasting equipment. I work independently with no supervision from sketches, blueprints, specifications and procedures, technical manual(TMs), manufacture technical bulletins(TBs), modification instructions(MIs), trade journals, drawings, graphs, parts manuals, supply manuals, schematics, charts, listings, written and oral instructions. The cleaning process I perform consist of manual and pneumatic scraping, sanding, cabinet abrasive blasting, solvents, high pressure washer and steam cleaning using personal protective equipment(PPE) such as rubber gloves, rubber boots, goggles, safety glasses, pants, gloves and jacket. I quality check the condition of the parts and equipment after cleaning as well as the degree of cleanliness. I ensure that all hazardous materials are properly stored, handled and disposed of. I perform all my tasks assigned to me with no supervision. I assist journeyman, CPI, quality control inspector, when performing limited technical inspections, pre-induction inspections, in-process inspections, mechanical inspections, and final inspections on the HMMWV Family. I use expert judgment for acceptance when specific requirements were not available on this equipment without technical assistance. I have the ability to work independently without supervision on all assigned task, I am assigned to work on minor and major systems and components independently as well as a member of a team. I prepare material requirements list to ensure mandatory replacement items as well as other essential items are requisitioned. I facilitate requisitioning material requirements utilizing the supply lists, master component list as well as other pertinent technical manuals to ensure that all material is ordered in timely basis. I am knowledgeable with the quality control process and the ISO quality system, I conduct in process inspections, mechanical inspections and final inspections to identify defects. I use expert judgment for acceptance when specific requirements are not available. I am courteous, tactful, respectful and effective with co-workers. I worked as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic on the HMMWV line at MCLB Barstow, California. Performed repairs, applied modifications, operated, exercised and preserved all mobile and skid mounted Principle End Items (PEI'S),in the Marine Corps inventory such as tanks, landing craft, engineer items, trucks, HMMWV’s, trailers, etc. This equipment is processed in preparation for shipments, initial receipts, and rollback or masterwork schedule items for medium or long-term storage operations. Perform work involved in the repair, rebuild, overhaul, or modification of combustion powered heavy duty vehicles and heavy mobile equipment such as, but not limited to, bull dozers, road grader, crawler tractors, power shovel, combat vehicles of all types, cranes, large transporters, self propelled or towed artillery pieces, fire trucks.
