Objective:
An engineering career in which I can use my knowledge and experience in Welding & Metallurgy, construction codes (ASME Boiler & Pressure vessel, B31.1 & B31.3), equipment diagnostics and condition monitoring, project engineering, and program management, to contribute to my professional growth and my employer’s success.
Education:
MS Mechanical Engineering
Minor, Industrial Engineering
Mississippi State University Starkville, MS Graduation: December 2006
Studies focused in the thermal and fluid sciences (Single & Two- phase fluid flow, Heat Transfer, HVAC design and fundamentals of operation of combustion engines and alternative energy sources). Graduate assistant duties entailed performing an energy analysis of the Green Mobile project for the Department of Architecture. Analysis entailed a comparison of the total energy efficiency of the proposed design as compared to that of conventional construction methods employed in standard mobile home designs. Minor studies focused on Engineering economics, system engineering and program management.
BS Mechanical Engineering
Mississippi State University Starkville, MS 1996-2001
Studies emphasized thermodynamics, fluid flow and energy systems design. Completed additional course work in viscous and compressible flow and manufacturing processes.
Naval Nuclear Power School Orlando, FL 1992
Areas of study included: Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Radiological Principles, Reactor Plant Chemistry, and Reactor Physics.
Naval Nuclear Field “A” School Orlando, FL 1991-1992
Studied the operation and maintenance of steam power plants and plant subsystems and componenets.
Bruce High School Bruce, MS 1987-1991
Accomplishments: President of Sophomore and Junior Classes, National Merit Semi-Finalist, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, Participated in Youth Leadership Conference and Math Club.
Experience:
Medical Machining Specialists Memphis, TN Mar 2014 – Jul 2015
Manufacturing/Quality Engineer/Project Manager
Headed the Product Realization team for developing manufacturing process and troubleshooting of drawing/design issues in the pre-production phase. Developed workflow routings in the contract review process. Created inspection plans and developed special inspection methods as required. Participate in CAPA and Non-Conformance disposition program. Developed FMEA and Control Plans for processes/equipment. Performed as Project Manager for complex multi-component orders. Tracked progress and assigned production priorities, and communicated project status to internal sales and management personnel as well and customer representatives. Worked with shop personnel to resolve manufacturing issued as required. Participated in ISO audit and registration activities.
Wright Industries Nashville, TN Sep 2009 – June 2013
Senior Engineer (Welding & Metallurgy)
Established the company Welding Program and developed requisite procedures. Developed and wrote Performance Qualification Records, Welding Procedure Specifications and Welder Performance Qualifications in accordance with ASME Section IX criteria for use in ASME and AWS code construction. Performed metallurgical studies to improve product quality and fabrication processes. Reviewed customer specification for welding, material and inspections requirements to aid management and applications in preparing project bids. Provided technical support to the shop and to the design group. Participated in Root and Apparent Cause investigations.
Southern Company, E.I. Hatch Plant Baxley, GA Feb 2007 - July 2009
Maintenance Engineer
Managed the welding program as the plant welding engineer. Tested craft and shop welders to ASME Section IX criteria. Provided technical oversight for specialty welding projects such as MSIV repairs and SRV refurbishment. Gained extensive experience with the ASME BPV code as well as B31.1 and AWS D1.1 construction codes.
Managed the Predictive Maintenance Program. Gathered and interpreted vibration, oil analysis and thermography data using the information to establish equipment health, troubleshoot equipment problems and optimize the preventative maintenance strategies.
Provided support to plant maintenance with diagnostics, and problem solving on plant equipment.
Performed as outage dayshift contract administrator for the Pipefitter craft during maintenance shutdowns
2005 – 2006 Acquired MS in Mechanical Engineering with Minor in Industrial Engineering Mississippi State University, Starkville, MS.
