The firm is a roads & infrastructure contracting company based in Sharjah UAE and has participated in several road, pipeline, drainage, sewerage & other civil works projects with an average turnover of AED 100 million

Provided inter-disciplinary interface management in projects, chaired coordination meetings with clients and contractors, approved contractor’s programs, material submittals and payment requests. Sep 1994 to Feb 1997: NATIONAL CONTRACTING & TRANSPORT COMPANY (NCTC), Sharjah UAE, Chief Engineer/Projects Manager – Managed 12 concurrent ongoing road construction projects. Developed execution schedules & plans, planned, mobilized & allocated resources – 500 workmen of various trades & 50 heavy duty machines – among projects assuring optimum utilization. Chaired meetings of functional heads – engineering, construction, purchase, accounts & HR, coordinated central facilities like concrete mix plant, asphalt plant, workshop & garage. Administered contracts for ongoing projects from award to completion of jobs and close-out. Scrutinized tender documents and price proposals before submission. Appointed & terminated staff & workmen as per project requirements. Prepared and processed contractual certifications including valuations and time & cost claims. Deputized for the GM in his absence.

Apr 1993 to Sep 1994: ARAB-LEBANESE CONTRACTING CO, Amman Jordan, Construction Manager – Supervised the construction of the head office building of Arab Banking Corporation (ABC). Established site facilities including offices with MEP connections, stores and tower crane. Prepared material schedules, specifications, price estimates & delivery requirements. Supervised preparation of work drawings, shop drawings and as-built drawings. Supported Project Management with technical, resource planning & site progress issues. Enforced all safety rules at site ensuring accident free job executions. Optimized project costs and ensured on time completion of project activities.

Oct 1991 to Apr 1993: INTERNATIONAL TRADING & CONTRACTING CO (ITC), Doha Qatar, Projects Manager – Managed a fast-track design & build contract for construction of 2 VIP beach villas each of 2400+ m2 area. Led a professional team of 7 and supervised a multi-trade workforce of 500+ deployed by several subcontractors. Coordinated procurement from abroad and airfreight of special finishing materials. Liaised with VIP clients to incorporate their expectations into the design-build process. Managed shared services like central music system and soft landscaping. Completed the project from piling stage to final delivery & handover in a time period of 18 months.

Aug 1987 to Sep 1991: DAR AL-HANDASAH (SHAIR & PARTNERS) ENGINEERING CONSULTANTS, Doha Qatar, Assistant Resident Engineer – Participated in the project for construction of a major military camp in Qatar. Supervised directly construction of 11 km of access + internal roads. As member of the core project consultancy team, participated in supervision of other construction jobs – reinforced concrete & steel structures, ammunition stores, hangars, helipads, clinical services, roads, telecommunication & CCTV systems. Supported contractor with measures for achieving progress targets and quality control. Recommended several design changes to regional design offices in Cairo, Beirut and London.

Dec 1985 to Aug 1987: JECOM GENERAL EQUIPMENT CO, Amman Jordan, Site Engineer – Participated in the construction of 8 km of road to accommodate heavy traffic bound to the Customs Authority. Worked in all stages from initial land survey to final completion & handover. Mobilized labor and heavy equipment, logistics for supply of bulk materials and maintenance coordination for construction equipment. Submitted requests for approval (RFA) and coordinated with consulting engineer for supervising all scheduled tests at site. Coordinated with traffic police for required traffic diversions.
