March 2013 ~ Present Manager Aftermarket Services
Petro-Chem Development is one of the world’s premier engineering companies that work in the petrochemical industry. As manager of Aftermarket Services, I wear many hats: sales, product sourcing, project manager & project expeditor; job duties include:
Providing clients with proposals to meet all aspects of their project requirements, including: specifications regarding required testing and material sourcing, technical requirements, budgeting & delivery. Typically this will require several reiterations of various options until the client is ready to make a decision.
Assisting clients with options regarding best material availability, testing requirements, & manufacturing options to improve pricing & availability as needed/required.
Once a project is funded I am responsible for establishing an operating budget for the project, man-hour projections for the life of the project as well as documentation outlining the agreed upon scope of supply.
Long Lead Projects – If the project requires a large amount of design work and/or fabrication, the project is handed off to a project manager who has full-time staff at their disposal for purchasing, design, inspection and expediting functions. It is my job to ensure that the scope of supply is clearly communicated to the new project team to ensure that we supply the correct scope of supply and to prevent “scope creep”.
For all other projects, I remain the face of Petro-Chem to the client and vendors throughout the life of the project. I will fill the roles of project manager, expeditor & shipping coordinator through the life of the project.
oProject Manager functions- All internal documentation such as: operational budget, scope of supply, review/approval of client purchase order & any terms & conditions, client order acknowledgement & requisitions for purchase. It is also my responsibility to issue client invoices and to resolve any billing issues that may deter our receipt of payment.
oExpediting functions– Responsible for expediting vendors to ensure they stay on schedule & submit any technical documentation in a timely manner for review by our internal staff.
oClient relations- To maintain an open line of communication with the client and communicate the current status of the project as needed; as well as to be available to answer any questions that may arise on their end.
oShipping functions - Once the project is ready to ship, I am responsible for arranging crating & shipment as needed (or required), to complete any/all required shipping documentation-including all export documentation for international shipments.
Assisting clients on projects that require a very aggressive delivery. This usually means finding ways to shave weeks, if not months off of regular delivery times for projects that are extremely time sensitive. Remaining “on-call” nights/weekends for vendors & the client through the life of the project.
