Personal Statement:

I am an enthusiastic and proactive person with a desire to succeed in what I do. I place a strong emphasis on communication and interpersonal skills and am able to work under my own initiative or as a member of a team. I possess a willingness to learn and develop in my chosen field and see problems as opportunities not obstacles.

Employment History:

Upon leaving full time education and indulging in a passion for travel I followed my father’s career and joined HM Forces taking a position in The Army. This has enabled me to pursue a number of opportunities that has led to a varied career, given me a rounded outlook on life and presented many challenges and new learning opportunities that I am able to rely on and bring to my present role.

February 2015 to present day Howard Tenens

Job Title – Warehouse Shift Manager

Throughout my time in this role I have had many challenges that have helped me to continually develop further as a manager of people and roles. It is a fast paced and dynamic environment delivering products to the UK and International regions. As such I deal with a wide and varied customer base and indeed colleagues, all presenting different scenarios, problems and challenges that I need to meet, resolve and satisfy to a successful conclusion for all involved

Primary responsibilities include:

Manage the day to day warehouse operation in a cost effective manner making alterations to the daily plans in line with changing demands.

Provide effective management of resources to maximize utilisation of space and resources including both personnel and vehicle availability to reflect demand..

Recruit, train, motivate and mentor Supervisors & Team Leaders in the warehouse in order to provide a flexible team who constantly achieve departmental KPI’s.

Ensure that all customer KPI’s and operational deadlines are met and exceeded.

Be accountable for maintaining a high standard of hygiene/housekeeping in the work environment via inspections and spot check audit activities.

Demonstrate a proactive approach to risk management and adherence to site health and safety regulations across the warehouse teams.

Manage and implement continual service improvement activities to support overarching KPI achievement.

An accountable member of the Senior Management Team contactable out of hours for escalations and crisis management as required.

July 2013 – February 2015 Trade Parts Specialist

Job Title – Logistics Manager

Primary responsibilities include;

Day to day management of Drivers and Warehouse staff

Demand management to ensure Priority Customers requirements are met.

Logistical management of fleet in accordance with daily supply and demand

Management of end to end maintenance of the company’s fleet to ensure continual availability in line with customer expectations.

Full Recruitment responsibilities including training and discipline of all staff

Ensure all Warehouse pick/pack operations are carried out accurately and efficiently.

Stock and capacity management to maintain warehouse efficiency.

Financial accountability to ensure accurate and timely settlement of customer accounts

April 2011 – July 2013 Hunts Frozen Foods, Winchester

Position – Delivery Driver/Supervisor

Ensure the correct picking/packing of orders

August 2009 – May 2010 Supreme Food Service, Afghanistan

Position – Warehouse Manager – 300,000 Sq ft Multi Temp DC

Primary responsibilities included:

Ensuring essential items, food and water are delivered with minimal disruption under the most challenging conditions for UK, US and ISAF forces.

Day to day warehousing responsibilities to include capacity management, supply and demand and ordering.

Line management of 60 staff

Adherence to company Health and Safety standards for direct reports.

Effective and accurate documentation of procedures.

Stock location and rotation.

Implementation and management of preventative maintenance schedule for warehouse equipment in line with availability requirements

December 2008 – Feb 2009 Benchmark Distribution, Southampton

Position – Branch Manager

(Company experienced financial restraints and my position became redundant)

Duties included:

To provide a fast, efficient and reliable distribution service to the After Sales motor market.

Responsible for all aspects of Branch Management. Recruitment and retention

Primary Duties included:

Dealing with IFA’s (Independent Financial Advisors), both in house and externally

Liaison with multiple financial companies and the general public.

Specialising in Life Assurance and Pension related policies.

Providing information and feedback on the performance of funds and products

Responsible for organising and maintaining training records and supporting documents.

March 1998 - February 2001 – HSBC Pensions Southampton

Position – Senior Claims Advisor

Primary Duties included:

Primarily with pension transfers, ensuring that all compliance issues were met.

Responsible for the transfer of pensions from one company to another on behalf of the client.

Whilst with HSBC I managed to achieve the position of Designated Complaint Handler, a position only given to the most competent member on each team.

December 1995 - November 1997 Greens Wine Bar, Winchester

Position - Assistant Bar Manager progressing to Bar Manager

Primary Duties included:

Stock control

Ordering and negotiating prices.

Organising staff rotas, interviewing and assisting staff recruitment.

Ensuring customer satisfaction

Maintaining a pleasant environment for socialising in line with the owners design.

September 1992 – September 1995 HM Forces (Army)

Summary of role;

After basic training with the Adjutant Generals Corp I was posted to the Royal Military Police Units in Petersfield and London. Duties included working as and training bodyguards for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, creating an in-house database, updating, archiving and transferring records onto CD - ROM for the Central Criminal Records and Intelligence Office (CCRIO) plus general security duties. During my time in the Army I was able to pursue my passion for Rugby and represented the Army at Under 21 level in a number of fixtures. I was also able to undertake many outward bound courses and extra-curricular activities to underpin my personal development.


September 1984 - July 1989 Kings’ School, Romsey Rd, Winchester

Attained 5 GCSE’s at Grade C and held the position of Prefect and House Captain
