Operational & Behavioural change Management Programme – Programme manager

Due to unexpected increases in charges, there was an energy price risk on Tesco’s financial results. Programme objective was to design, implement and monitor operational and behavioural actions to reduce energy costs by 3%.

oManaged and led the process design team to develop cost reduction initiative programme for Retail operations in anticipation of the energy price increase

oFacilitated and presented process design workshops attended by stakeholders from different business areas

oConducted a field case study to improve understanding of energy usage

There was a failure in the coordination of projects leading to duplications and inefficiency. Objective was to structure the process by which projects were identified and authorised.

Following the improvement in project management (see achievement 2), it was recognised that storage costs for renewable equipment were too high. Objective was to minimise storage costs for the business.

oIdentified all equipment and storage costs and engaged key stakeholders to develop solutions

oGained buy-in from senior management on preferred solutions

oImplemented a series of disposal/reassignments to reduce storage cost

oWithin the first 12 months, Tesco achieved 25% with a projected savings of 50% over five years.
