Director Human Resources and Governmental Affairs, (Consultant Assignment) 2012 – 2014

Directed the HR and governmental affairs function for this five-state oil field services company. Handled human resource matters including growth through mergers, acquisitions and buyouts. Interfaced with the company president and chief financial officer as a human resource strategic business partner. Duties included coaching organizational development, lean management concepts, elimination of duplication of operations post acquisition and due diligence, management recruitment and site human resource development. Advised site operations management on HR protocols, security, immigration EEOC, ADA, FMLA, Safety, workers comp claims, salary wage administration and local government issues. Handled matters relating to homeland security and state and federal law enforcement. Worked in conjunction with the executive director of safety on matters relating to safety investigations and training requirements for the industry. As a business partner, helped to grow the company from $48 million to $108 million in a 13 month period. This position required 40% travel for extended periods of time. Handled I-9 pre-litigation with savings of $459,000 on a $488,000 finding of I-9 violations with finding dismissed. Received security clearance from US Department of Justice ATF Federal Explosives Licensing Center as Responsible Person for explosive transportation shipping and receiving.


Lead Consultant Human Resources and Government Engagement 2011 – 2012

Provided executive-level human resource consulting and executive coaching for international corporations, nonprofit service organizations, and small/medium sized companies and government agencies. Lead 19 associate consultants serving multi-discipline initiatives involving human resource management, employee on-boarding and succession planning. Directed complex operational programs and delivered engagement solutions related to EEOC, FMLA, ADA, workers’ comp, labor strategies, motivational skills, and community and government engagement. Compliance audits and governance conducted pre-arbitration investigations and consulted in matters related to the United States Labor Act. Major initiatives included successful negotiations with the UAW, USWA and the Electrical Workers of America. Provided executive coaching on organizational development strategies and right-sizing operations. Worked closely with the United States Departments of Labor, Housing and Urban Development on planning and development, team building, compliance auditing and health management program administration. Instituted cost cutting measures generating 28% to the bottom line for the client. Right sized manufacturing facility with the elimination of operations and out sourced services for additional savings. Provided oversight for management and salaried recruiting. Corporate Director – Human Resources 1993 – 2011

Directed all facets of human resource management, benefits administration, safety, workers’ compensation and labor negotiations for 3,500 union and non-union employees in 8 U.S. and Canadian manufacturing and distribution operations. Managed affirmative action, diversity training, sexual harassment investigations and the administration of EEOC, ADA, FMLA and EPA policies and conflict resolution. Oversaw salaried wage administration, salary recruiting, corporate flight operations and government relations. Executive Director (Minority Business Opportunity Committee) 1990 - 1993

On loan from Titan International, accepted US Department of Commerce appointment by the Minority Business Development Agency to establish and provide leadership for an office in the Detroit Empowerment Zone of the Minority Business Opportunity Committee. Created partnerships and strategic alliances with major manufacturers, utilities and non-automotive companies. Established business relationships with local lenders, out-state funding sources and joint venture groups, specializing in venture capital financing. Generated 6 million in contracts the first year of operation and 11.4 million in the second of operation. Interfaced with local, regional, state and federal elected officials.


Manager of Human Resources 1986 – 1990

Managed the HR function for the Canadian division, including safety, labor relations, recruiting and grievances, as well as Ministry of Labor issues for a diverse workforce comprised of 8+ nationalities. Handled immigration documents for salaried employees transferring to and from the location. Interfaced with the Canadian Ministry of Labor during plant closure process. Facilitated organizational development of cross culture for newly hired managers to Canada. Salary reviews for transferees, administration of collective bargaining agreement. Supervised paralegals and provided support to Senior Partners in client interviews and research of case law.
