PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Central Office Technician, Verizon, Lexington Park, MD (1999 – 2016)

■ Provided full-range of technical support that included: installations, performing routine maintenance, analyzing defects, tests, adjustments, repairs and maintains for complex equipment such as switching systems, circuit equipment, network terminal equipment and data/digital equipment using electrical and or electronic measuring devices ■ Updated work and maintenance logs through WFA and FOMS databases.

■ Worked inside a central office (CO) to install, remove and maintain the complex switching and routing equipment used in voice, video, fiber optics and data telecommunications networks ■ Responsible for the provisioning and maintenance of Central Office equipment including, but not limited to subscriber loop carrier systems, DSL, POTS, digital and optical muxes ■ Worked on various styles of mainframes which required proficiency using several types of wire connecting techniques, including soldering, wrapping, and punch down. Occasionally required to harness/unharness equipment wiring in order to effectively troubleshoot.

■ Worked on cell, circuit, radio and network terminal equipment ■ Scheduled and performed software back-ups and updates ■ Removed and/or replaced connections on wire distributing frames ■ Performed turn-up, acceptance, installation and provisioning of DS1 & DS3 (or higher) ■ Maintained batteries, rectifiers and fuse alarms in central office power plants ■ Placed and tested fiber optic cable.

■ Operated equipment for testing and repair including several versions of the T-Berd test set

■ Expertise in data systems (IP, LAN/WAN, optical, Ethernet), DWDM timing and synchronization switching and routing, IP addressing & routing ■ Advanced networking (VPN, ATM, SDH, MPLS, Wireless, SS7, SONET) ■ Working knowledge of digital central office equipment as well as fiber optic DWDM systems, soft switch, and IP/Data networking, especially Brocade experience ■ Basic electrical (AC and DC) knowledge.
