EDUCATION RELATED EXPERIENCE

School Counselor Intern, Milton Area School District, Milton, PA August 2015-April 2016

-Completed 540 hours (total) with the high school, middle school, and elementary school.

-Done around 20 student observations in the high school and elementary school levels. Wrote up in detail all the student observations and their behaviors that went on in the classroom so they could be sent to the school psychologist for re-evaluations.

-At the middle school I taught 6th grade careers classes every day for several weeks. Topics focused on study skills, learning styles, time management, and skills that if practiced in school can be used when looking for a job/career.

-Counseling students at the middle school individually; discussing the classes the students where failing and giving them options as to how the students can bring their grades up. Suggesting to students to talk to their teachers on individual support.

-Participated and assisted in group sessions at the high school and elementary school between 5-12 students in a session. At the high school worked with students in the life skills class focusing on positive behavior and manners. At the elementary school group sessions every day in accordance to the 6 day cycle schedule from grades K-5 on various topics and activities.

-At the high school I conducted research with the assistant to the principal at Milton on students cutting assigned areas. I talked with 10 students who had high number of referrals on cutting classes and asking the students individually what their reasoning was for cutting a particular class or the time of day of which the student does cut their assigned area.

-Participated in organizing and accounting for all tests in Keystone testing and PSSA testing. Highly involved with the PSSA’s at the elementary school for grades 3-5 and getting the tests ready for the next day/week. Involved with packing the tests, putting the test booklets in the proper boxes, and labeling boxes in order to be sent back.

-Many meetings I attended including IEP, GIEP, Student Attendance Improvement Plan (SAIP), Academies (teacher meetings), Staffing Meetings, and parent meeting on various issues involving students.
