Experience
I graduated from LVN school in May 1999 and found employment shortly afterwards at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, Texas. While employed at Shannon, I worked on the Telemetry, Trauma, and Step-Down Units. At the same time, I pursued my educational goals attending Howard College and Angelo State University. In late 2001 my wife and I moved to Kerrville, Texas where I began working at Peterson Regional Medical Center and began studies at Austin Community College in August 2002. In May 2003 I graduated from the ACC AND program. While at Peterson, most of my experience revolved around bedside patient care in the ICU and PACU. However, I also had the opportunity to work on the PICC team, acted as Nursing Supervisor, and managed the Pre-op and Post-op departments. In January 2010, I began classes at the University of Texas – El Paso to pursue my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. In January 2013, I was accepted into the Adult/Gerontological Acute Care Nursing Program at UTEP and finished graduate school in May 2015. Prior to graduation, I signed a contract to work for Sound Physicians Transitional/Post Acute Care Team. My responsibilities for Sound include rounding on post acute skilled nursing patients as well as long term care patients in nursing homes and rehabilitation throughout Kerrville. While working with Sound my duties include diagnosing, treating and initiating medications for acute and chronic illnesses, evaluating diagnostic interventions, executing follow-ups as required, developing treatment plans according to standards of care and professional practice guidelines, documentation, and billing patient encounters.
