CAREER SUMMARY and OBJECTIVE

More than 15 years of experience in Information Technology (management and technical positions) in diverse environments. Currently manage a staff of 6 providing local IT services for a global data communications provider. Also act as security officer for North America. Previous roles included technical lead, server admin, database admin and programming support for various companies providing benefits consulting, system integration/reseller and telecommunications services. Provided support to both internal and external customers (with billable hours).

Main objective is to leverage IT skills and technologies in order to provide value proposition in support of the business.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Server administrator/Technical Lead / Manager (1996 – 2004)

Oversee local IT services in the NAM region, supporting ~1100 users (incl. 400 teleworkers) in 20 offices. Support team comprises of 6 dedicated staff in 3 major offices. As part of the team, staff from Cairo and field engineers in the region, of which I act as their functional manager (i.e. dotted line reporting). As regional POC, I liaise with leaders from other regions and support organizations in handling projects, escalations, process design/rollout, etc. in addition to managing day-to-day customer support. As part of security officer role, I am responsible for coordinating and implementing security-related matters in the region. I report into the CS&O chief security officer under the Strategy and Transformation organization.

In addition to current staff, I previously managed a team of 6, in a call center environment, supporting internal and external customers (major airline companies). Prior to management, I provided server administration support on Windows 2000, Novell, AS400 and UNIX platforms. Other supported systems included Exchange, SMS, MS IIS, Solaris, Sybase, Cisco routers, Ascend Max, etc.

Accomplishments:

As part of security officer role, developed security awareness training in STEP for all international regions; aside from attending monthly steerco meeting, supported security initiatives - ex. incident investigation, communication on system vulnerabilities, URL and EIN network backdoor cleanup

Designed and implemented the NAM support model (considered as best practice) to other regions with the goal to maximize efficient use of resources and minimize cost in the field.

Helped transition the region from multiple groups with local managers into a single ‘virtual’ team under one management (myself), enhancing efficiencies and reducing cost.

Extended support to other field operations like Nodal team, etc. on a part-time basis.

Involved in the design and implementation of support model for the region in support of a global IT outsourcing contract (for Getinge).

Deployed and supported a global system for field operations, professional services and authorized service providers. The system contains technical documents, Cisco IOS files, etc. for projects and customer support.

Involved in office consolidation, system integration and server consolidation during past mergers (Equant, Techforce, Global One, France Telecom) and received awards and merits based on my contribution.

Member of service management team which planned and implemented outsourcing of desktop support (internal and external customers) to Cairo, as part of cost reduction program.

Helped design and implement first Active Directory site in the company. Represented FOIS and presented global plan to various stakeholders, i.e. IT&S, FT and FOIS, during the meeting in the corporate office in Paris.

Systems Engineer, Dataflex Corporation, Clearwater FL 1994 - 1996

Provided onsite installation, configuration and troubleshooting of networked systems using Microsoft and Netware technologies for external customers. Provided connectivity solutions to TCP/IP host environments, IBM AS/400 and 3270 mainframe.

Involved in the design, management, training and implementation of systems for GTE Information Services (now Verizon). Migrated systems from 3COM 3PLUS to MS LAN Manager and LAN Manager/Windows 3.x to Windows NT/Windows for Workgroup.
