Substantial experience providing leadership to nurture and engage stakeholders in state government, business organizations, higher education, and civic organizations as collaborative partners to cultivate, develop, and implement symbiotic initiatives, community projects and programs.

Project examples:

-Salem – Appointed by Oregon Governor as commissioner and chair to serve on the Commission on Asian Affairs. (1996-2000) Addressed issues and concerns of the diverse Asian ethnic communities and served as resource for state agencies to improve communications, write testimonials, testify, and advise state legislators and state agencies on behalf of the minority communities. Recognized as “exemplary community leader” in Governor Kulongoski’s MyOregonStory website (2002-2010).

-Corvallis – Chaired the September 11 Countywide Commemoration Committee in 2002. Collaborated with city, county governments, businesses, religious and civic organizations, for a week-long event, including healing activities, music concert, public forum, countywide public observance ceremony, candlelight vigil, while reflecting on each person’s contribution to peace, justice, and compassion.

-Eugene – Served as chief organizer for Older American Month Celebration in May 2006. Built collaboration with OASIS, American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, and United Way to impact health policies.

-Gresham – Catalyzed the community’s first Asian American Heritage Month Celebration, which resulted in a joint resolution, proclamation, and community engagement plan, a joint collaboration of the community, business, and government officials during the month of May, 2007.

-Woodburn – Organized “Honoring Education Volunteers Day” celebration through a symbiotic partnership with Latino community activists, School District, Chamber of Commerce to strengthen Latino community involvement, broadcasted live by Latino Radio Station, La Pantera, Nov 28th 2007.
