WORK EXPERIENCE

GRADUATE ASSISTANT February 2015- May 2016

University of Houston, Houston, TX

Worked as a Graduate Assistant in Plant operations of University of Houston. I had to create, modify and dispatch projects, work orders and project management for the facilities department.

PROGRAMMER ANALYST December 2013- July 2014

Cognizant Technology Solutions, Chennai, India

Designed complex automation procedures for effective run and control of equipment.

Control algorithms were simulated using Simulink and MATLAB for controlling robotic accessories. Programmed using C, Java, HTML, Python, SQL and other databases.

Monte Carlo Localization and other data filter techniques were used in order to realize the realistic performance of the robots in use.

ASSISTANT ELECTRICAL ENGINEER October 2012- November 2013

Hanuma Constructions, Hyderabad, India

Worked with experienced electrical engineers in installation of the electrical systems and motors, programmed PLC’s on automation of systems, developing knowledge on planning, construction and design. Got trained in embedded C, and used to test and modify pre-implemented code.

Developed designs based on the system capabilities and guidelines. Performed arc flash studies and short circuit calculations while designing substation.

ELECTRICAL INTERN May 2012 – July 2012

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Hyderabad, India

Studied the design and functioning of an Extra High Voltage Circuit Breaker during the manufacturing process in the plant and other protection equipment.

INTERN May 2011 – July 2011 National Thermal Power Corporation, Ramagundam, India

Studied various factors involved in the production of power and submitted a report by investigating the process of producing the electricity at each sector of the Thermal Power Plant.

PROJECTS

1.OPTIMIZE THE MANIFOLD LOCATION IN A SUBSEA MULTIPLE WELL ARCHITECTURE: Tools Used: MATLAB &SIMULINK

The 4-well locations were decided to reduce the high pressure oil/gas output from the wells and through the pipes and thereby reducing the pressure as it is transferred to the onshore/ offshore facility.

Subsea control system model was provided and the least resistance method was used in order to find the optimized Manifold location between the wells and the offshore facility.

2.ROBOT MOTION USING POMDP SOLVER: Tools Used: MATLAB, Python

Driving a robot through a maze using POMDP (Partially observable Markov decision process) 1-step greedy algorithm.

This project was implemented using MATLAB and Python with lot of emphasis on different sets of algorithms used generally for robot motion and control.

Python was then used to generate a graph comparing various possible scenarios like different starting positions, different goal positions etc.

These comparisons were carefully documented for future reference.

3.RESIDENTIAL HOME SCHEDULING IN A SMART GRID: Tools Used: MATLAB

Calculated the locational marginal pricing for every bus using Linear Programming in MATLAB. The pricing was given for each hour and the best hours to schedule the loads was calculated using this project.

Using Linear programming optimized the loads for each hour thereby reducing the cost.

4.POWER FLOW ANALYSIS FOR CONNECTICUT LOAD IN NEW ENGLAND BUS SYSTEM:

Tools Used: PSS/E, ETAP

This project illustrates a case scenario of an IEEE 39 bus system (New England System) with 10 different generators according to NEC, IEC and ANSI standards.

Analyzed the power flow results using Newton – Raphson method and determined the voltage profile of the entire system and the CLC, plotting P-V and Q-V curves.

Determined the Surge Impedance Loading (SIL), power flow mismatch errors, convergence rates, optimization methods.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Proficiency Tools: MATLAB & Simulink, PSS/E, AutoCAD, RSLogix, FactoryTalk View, ETAP, Revit, LabVIEW, SPICE tools, CATIA V5, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point).

Programming Languages: C, JAVA, Python, C++, UNIX, JavaScript, Embedded C, SQL. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

University of Houston Graduate Student Scholarship and member of IEEE since under graduation.

Organized and actively participated in college events as part of Robotics Club.
