Employed as an MLT. Worked in Out Patient Clinic Lab at least once a week performing venipunctures, drug screens, collection of urine, sperm samples, bodily tissues and excrements, perform patient data entry, etc. Performed over 4,000 blood draws from routine to various posted precaution and isolation conditions, psychiatric ward, ICU, emergency room, geriatric, children, drug/alcohol rehabilitation and detoxification, infants and preemies, heel sticks, etc. Rotated every few days through lab departments of Phlebotomy, Specimen Processing, Hematology and Coagulation, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Microbiology, and Out Patient Clinic Lab.

Employed as an MLT in both Component Processing Lab and Testing Lab. Responsibilities included the preparation and storage of whole blood and blood components. Labeling units as to ABO and RH. Prepare autologous RBC units for freezer storage then thaw and deglycerolize these units when needed for transfusion. Process fresh frozen plasma into cryoprecipitate. Irradiate blood products when requested. Pull infectious, contaminated, expired, and rejected units for autoclave disposal. Conduct serologic batch testing for CMV (HHV-5) and RPR testing for syphilis. Batch antibody screening. Insure the safety, purity, and potency of all blood products.
