EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS
UST GLOBAL
03/Sep/2007 - Present
Present Designation: Systems Analyst
Project: ApparelNET
Role: Systems Analyst
15/Mar/2014 – Present
Work Location: Winston Salem, NC
ApparelNET is a tool for inventory management for manufacturing plants of a leading apparel manufacturing company. It tracks inventory movements between multiple locations in a plant like receiving, sewing, packaging etc. This tool also tracks shipping to distribution center from manufacturing plants. Its sourcing module named OneSource tracks sourced purchase orders. Its QualityNET module tracks production qualities like first quality, off quality and throw-outs. The website is in ASP.Net web forms and uses SQL Server 2012 as database. It uses ADO.Net for data access.
Responsibilities & Achievements:
Analyze requirements and clarify with business analysts and business users. Provided suggestions in cases where functionality can be achieved in a better way.
Database design - tables, views and indexes. Performed database design leveraging sound understanding about the manufacturing system usage scenario and statistics rather than just following missing index suggestion.
Document the design and create Technical Design Document (TDD) for communicating with client and offshore developers.
Analyze multiple web technology options available and develop web pages using ASP.Net web forms, according to the layout specified in the requirement document, to achieve the functionality efficiently.
Scanning incoming lots to mark as Received Inventory is a frequently used function in manufacturing plants. During an enhancement project on this module, I proposed to use jQuery AJAX to achieve faster scanning- and I could implement it successfully resulting faster scan operations. The jQuery AJAX technology was not yet implemented in the system due to challenges in the custom compression module.
Develop manufacturing reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
Performed optimization of frequently used stored procedures and achieved nearly 50% improvement for some of the procedures. Shared suggestions about adding new features like extended events when the database was modernized to SQL Server 2012.
Involved in modernizing the ApparelNET application from .Net 2.0/Windows Server 2003 to .Net 4.0/Windows Server 2012. Also performed modernization of SSRS reports from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2012.
Unit test developed modules before delivering for System Integration Testing.
Perform code review for modules developed by offshore team and mentor junior resources at offshore. Achieved significant code quality improvement.
Organize weekly status meeting with client and offshore team and deliver status update.
Project: TopMapp CostPage Change System
Role: Offshore Lead
24/Jun/2013 – 20/Dec/2013
TopMapp system is developed to update Costpage details for items from multiple vendors for a retailer cooperative. It is disconnected environment – the values that user updates in TopMapp website are inserted in an AS400 interface file and from there customer’s tables are updated by a program (controlled by Data Queue). The TopMapp website was developed in ASP.Net MVC 4 with C# and SQL Server 2012 as database.
Responsibilities & Achievements:
As offshore team lead, understand infrastructure requirement from onsite coordinator and set up the development environment. Worked successfully with UST infrastructure team and managers and set up the development environment on time.
Evaluate and select UI tool for the project. Selected KendoUI as the UI tool to work with Model View Controller (MVC) and it successfully covered the requirements.
Design classes for reusability and extension. Created low level design document including the class design.
Design database tables, view, indexes, triggers and stored procedures.
Develop the solution structure in Visual Studio with multi-tier architecture using MVC as the web project.
Develop utility classes to be used by other team members in modules to achieve standard behavior for common functions. This improved reusability of code.
As offshore technical lead, establish coding standards document for the project using guidelines from Center of Excellence team.
Prepare a development checklist for development team to follow deployment process.
Perform code review for best practices of Model View Controller (MVC), C#, .Net and SQL Server performance.
Deploy modules to SIT environment following the deployment schedule for integration testing by QA team.
Analyze defects in triage meetings, prioritize defects and plan deployment schedules.
Project: Relocation Systems
Role: Sr. Software Developer
01/Mar/2012 – 31/May/2013
The Relocation Systems Project consists of development of web services for processing tax related data for relocation benefits of associates in a leading retail company. It also involves development of a support tool for administrator users to manage user and transaction data. Responsibilities are - design and development of web services and support web application for the Relocation Systems. The web services are developed using Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) in contract-first development approach (of Service Oriented Architecture - SOA) and tested using SOAP-UI tool. The support tool is developed using ASP.NET 4.0 Web Forms. Brought improvement in code quality by peer code reviews making sure that the code is complying the standards suggested by the client.
Project: TV Clearance – Program Schedule
Role: Sr. Software Engineer
01/Nov/2011 – 29/Feb/2012
The Program Schedule application is an ASP.NET website for the client to schedule their television programs. The application is developed as three tier system where ASP.NET website consumes business layer service developed in Windows Communication Foundation (WCF). Responsibilities are requirement analysis, design and development of functional modules, configuration control and build management and deployment to System Integration Testing. The deployment checklists I introduced in the project helped to improve code quality and reduced deployment related defects.
Project: FRAMIS - Franchise Management System
Role: Sr. Software Engineer
01/May/2009 – 31/Oct/2011
The Franchise Management System is developed for the client to manage information regarding their franchise centers. The application is developed as three tier system where asp.net website uses business layer service developed in Windows Communication Foundation (WCF). Responsibilities include development of reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), development of functional modules using ASP.NET (using .Net 2.0), configuration control of the project using TFS, functional specification document preparation for reports and design for reports.
This was a very big project where 40 people were working at its peak time. After completion of the development phase, I was one of the two resources selected for warranty support phase.
