Translations Project Manager and Technical Writer & Editor (Contract)

Managed the translation of approved/finalized US and international English content into 26 languages. Content included technical user manuals, test and errata notes, software strings and other GUI components, marketing collateral, product announcements, critical US and European (regulatory update) information, and product labeling. Effectively managed and coordinated up to 29+ ongoing projects, simultaneously. All tasks/milestones were specifically for Marketing /Documentation, but also dovetailed content within the extended teams’ milestones (Development/R&D, translations, field testing); tracked and executed via MS Project – throughout each project’s life span.

Liaised between divergent groups/point persons: within Haemonetics, R&D team leads, marketing directors, senior managers, content authors, in-country reviewers, DTP personnel, document control administrators, and accounts payable teams; external translation vendor project managers, linguists, a senior vice president, directors, finance managers, and senior account managers for Haemonetics’ corporate accounts - to ensure best practices and successful processes.

Made introductions and conducted meetings including when differences surfaced; helped in-country reviewers and the vendor’s linguists resolve disagreements when translations or requested changes were deemed stylistic (namely, preferential) vs. technical or regulatory. Understood both sides of any issue in order to foster resolutions quickly and cleanly.

Garnered best quotes-for-work from translation vendors; handled POs from team leads; ensured project scope, content, price, and TAT accuracy/competency remained on target throughout projects.

Ensured source IE content (before leaving Haemonetics) and its target translation (upon delivery from translation vendors) was complete. Fixed errors with tools used to create content to eliminate added time/cost; ensured the Translation Memory was up-to-date and shared amongst vendors - keeping all personnel abreast of critical changes for current and future translations.

Wrote, edited, and distributed medical device and software documentation updates as well as FDA and CE international requirement updates; channeled all English changes to localization teams; edited and distributed internal SOP documentation. Imported source content (from varied non-FrameMaker authoring tools); incorporated content into new, corporate FrameMaker master sheets, for a consistent look-and-feel. Uploaded documents for Label Review into Agile (document archival system) and shepherded them through the approval process, first in MS Project and then (after migrating the data to SharePoint) via SharePoint.

The user guide described how the internet-portal software stores, manages, tracks, and analyzes information for companies with multiple, global sites.

Created the guide’s master template, which provided friendly, easy-to-locate and understand information, screen captures with effective callouts that helped amplify understanding, as well as cross-references and Table of Contents with hyperlinked page references.
