I have graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering from the University of South Wales. I acquired a large range of skills, including the knowledge of engineering practices, use of design tools, manufacturing and workshop techniques, health and safety protocols and project management and professional practices. The course also provided three project management and business modules, which improved my ability to work in a team and individually in order to achieve the aims and objectives of a business project.

Fuel Tank Safety (Level 2)

This course complies with EASA ED2009/007/R and provided me with the knowledge of proper maintenance practices regarding inspections, HIRF, SFAR 88, and many others with respect to aircraft fuel tank safety.

I have accumulated a very large arsenal of skills that I believe to be very important to the company; excellent time management, technical knowledge of gas turbine engines, strong leadership and project managing skills, good problem-solving skills, a very good appreciation for health and safety rules stemming from workshop experience, refined workshop abilities, ability to work as part of a team, extensive research capabilities, ability to work under immense pressure and consistency with my work.

EASA Part 66 Training

I have undergone EASA part 66 training at an approved part 147 facility, the training course was run by British Airways and tailors its trainees towards a B1 category licence. I gained important knowledge and experience on many EASA certified modules through various examinations given by British airways in addition to shop floor tasks that included; metal patchwork repair and many different tasks performed on a JetStream like jacking, changing and maintaining tyres, checks on the engine, inspection of the aircraft battery and buses, removal of the aircraft flaps for inspection and many more. These tasks broadened and improved my hands on skills as well as endowing me with the skill to complete a task within a limited time frame and to specific standards.

Project development training

‘Business management and constraints’ as well as ‘Project research methodology’ and ‘Engineering project management and business developments’ were some of the important modules I completed during my project development training. These taught the importance of project development in every business and the tactics as well as the steps and tools used in conducting a project. Training was conducted both individually and in groups to achieve a common task from risk assessment to request for proposal forms.

GE Project Development

In addition to gaining hands-on work experience with GE, through hard work and perseverance I was accepted to partake in an active project with GE. The project helps build upon my project management skills and gives me an insight to how the company manages their projects. It involves a small team of engineers and a lot of creative problem solving skills to make the project a success and assist in a smoother running of the company.

CAREER SUMMARY

June 2013 - Aug 2013 MISHAVIATION FLYING SCHOOL

Engineering technician trainee was my role at the company. It required that I undergo an induction on health and safety practices to be followed by an engineers working in the hangar and on the tarmac. The induction enlightened the need for health and safety in the workplace and endowed me with skills that ensure that I carried out maintenance with a high level of safety. My job role included refueling of aircraft and the performance of smaller maintenance tasks as students landed after a certain amount of flight hours. This gave me insight into the duty of line maintenance engineers and how important it is to perform tasks efficiently and within as little time as possible.

June 2011 - Aug 2011 AFRICA CONTRACTS AND EQUIPMENT LTD

My role as a Personal assistant consisted of performing various tasks such as typing up contracts, letters and e-mails to different clients, which greatly improved my professionalism and ICT skills over a range of software packages. My work comprised of many small tasks, which had to be performed to a schedule and aided in developing my time management skills.

Aug 2015 - Sept 2015 GE AVIATION ENGINE SERVICES (CAERPHILLY)

Working at GE was a very rewarding experience; I received vital skills and knowledge about the inner workings of the site and the importance of their work on a global scale. I acquired invaluable hands-on experience on the GE90 (base and 115), GP7200 and RB211 engines. I successfully aided in the bulk strip of the GE90 base, assembly of the GP7200 gearbox, Bulk strip of the Gp7200 biff, assembly of the GP7200 booster and many more. I also shadowed an intern at my time in GE, Wayne Kwenda, gaining experience in the product and project managing side of GE. As we adventured into the workshop, the tasks ranged from investigating different damages and faults on aircraft hardware to running experiments of fuel residue to highlight unwanted compounds in the mixture and relaying information back to the required channels.
