Brookside Assisted Living - Centerville, MA - November 2010 to May 2012 Responsibilities

Assisting Activities Director in planning and performing planned activities. My job as activities assistant was to encourage résidents to join the activities, and even through they may be hésitant they will usually end up enjoying themselves. We enjoyed planning socials and watching the résidents interact and help eachother. My job as a résident care assistant was challenging at times especially when you may have 10 résidents and only one assistant trying to serve and cleanup from each meal, and after dinner helping whoever may need assistance with personal care, also the assistants were responsible for dispensing médications to all the résidents on there assigned floor. Brookside is an assisted Living for the memory impaired it is a locked facility which is even more challenging for one person to care for people that are very confused ànd scared. My time working at Brookside taught me alot about Dementia and Alzheimers and it gave me the skills i needed to perform my job as best as i could.
