I am currently employed by International SOS as a Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor with additional medic and occupational health duties on the Talisman Arbroath platform (North Sea).

I have worked in the Oil and Gas Industry for 13 years, the last 5 years being a HSE role.

Work experience

Present

My time spent on the Arbroath has included normal operations and an extended 2 year shut down in preparation for new wells being brought online. This has included major work scopes to improve the safety, environmental impact, production and welfare of the platform.

Numerous duties include: -

Ensure all relevant HSE information is effectively communicated to the relevant personnel in a timely manner.

Development and delivery of Health, Safety and Environmental training, promotional and induction material.

HSE KPI performance measurement, trend analysis and input to monthly reports.

Liaison with external bodies, e.g. HSE, SEPA and DECC.

Plan, organise and perform site emergency response exercises in accordance with requirements.

Lead and participate in all relevant HSE meetings.

Permit to work performing authority assessor.

Work site behavioural and safety intervention coach.

Incident investigation & root cause analysis team leader.

Lead auditor (compliance with all safety and environmental policies, procedures and site directives).

Responsible for safety, environmental and medical budget planning / expenditure.

Opito level 1 gas tester and gas tester trainer.

COSHH assessor and air monitoring focal point.

Radiological protection supervisor (RPS).

Asbestos management.

Competent noise and vibration at work assessor – noise exposure management and dosimetry.

Providing 24-hour medical care for over 200 ex patriots and families in Krasnodar, Russia.

Patient assessment and triage, obtaining medical history, diagnosis, treatment, advice and prescribing of medication and follow up care for emergency and routine cases.

Medical escort to and from hospitals and other medical units in Russia and abroad.

Medical liaison to ex patriots in Russian medical care & arranged medical evacuation abroad for further care.

May 1999 – Aug 2000. (Elf, PGS) Brazil and Africa.

Management of the ships hospital & looking after the well-being and fitness of the vessels crew and up to four other ships, whilst at sea.

Emergency sea boat medic for man over board and helicopter accident at sea.
