• Improved Control - provided instant access to critical information, such as inventory availability, quantity on hand, reorder quantities and costs. By adding the following feature the process could be carried out: Located Inventory (cassette/DVD code number, description, supplier, main and sub category lookup, just to name a few).
• Added other pipeline components – For example,
o Checked inventory - Used to check stock-on-hand during checkout operation. o Updated inventory - Used to update the inventory quantity for a cassette or DVD as part of a purchase or rental operation.
o Recorded computations - Used to calculate quantity in stock, back-ordered, and pre-ordered based on configurations.
SKILLS I am a fairly strong, and determined programmer with Java, J2EE and web skills. Excellent technical project leader, experienced with small to medium sized programming academic team. Additionally, I am fairly good designer and systems analyst.
• Java/J2EE: Four years of Java experience, including two of J2EE. Knowledge of some of the core language, including the most recent version, and experience with many major APIs
• Web Technologies: Five years of HTML experience, three of JavaScript, one of CSS. One year work with JQuery techniques. Also skilled with PHP, and have used ASP / VBScript. Strong experience with several JavaScript toolkits, including Prototype/Script.aculo.us, jQuery, and Dojo; have also used MochiKit, Rico, and MooTools. I have knowledge in standards-compliant website development.
• Web Frameworks: Academic experience with JSP, Struts, and Wicket. Have developed small-scale production application with the Spring Framework.
• Databases: Acceptable experience with MySQL, and a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Access. Have also used PostGRES, Firebird. Fairly skilled with SQL. Have also used Hibernate with Spring framework.
• Web Services: Developed web services in Java with Apache Axis, and in PHP with various tools.
• Deployment: Have used Tomcat.
• Development: Have used JUnit. Have used most of the major IDEs, and many other developers’ tools, I mostly code in Eclipse/BlueJ editors.
• Languages: Most of my recent work has been in Java, and before that in Visual C++ and Visual Basic 6.0, but I also have used Pascal, PHP, Python, Ruby and Rails.
• Environments: Mostly worked in a Windows environment, but I do have experience with various flavors of Unix/Linux.
• Architecture and Design: Have designed small systems. Worked academically with other students on design. Comfortable with the UML and design documentation.
• Project Management: Have managed teams of three to seven developers on all technical aspects of a project from requirements gathering through design, development, and deployment. Skilled in analyzing a team’s strengths, and motivating developers. I am also a good productive follower. No pure management experience.
