Pipeline & Gas Compressor Stations

1.Hirkey Compressor Station. Consisting of three gas driven turbine

Compressors. Susquehanna County, Pa.

Electrical auxiliaries consisted of exhaust fans, oil heaters, piping heat trace, and instrumentation controls data and PLC with HMI, site security. Site service power consisted of three separate single phase 120/240 volt each 200 amp. The odd service power was a result of a single phase utility primary

2.Taylor Compressor Station. Consisting of five gas driven turbine

Compressors. Susquehanna County, Pa.

Electrical auxiliaries consisted of exhaust fans, oil heaters, piping heat trace, and instrumentation controls data and PLC with HMI, site security. Site service power consisted of three phase 480/277 volt 1200 amp. Power distribution consisted of Automatic transfer switch, 650 KVA Generator (to continue carry essential loads during power failure), MCC for motors, and heater loads, step down transformer for smaller loads and lights.

3.Taylor Compressor Station expansion. Susquehanna County, Pa.

Preliminary design for expansion consisting of three 4000 HP electric driven compressors (reason for electric drive compressors was environmental requirements to limit local emissions). We did the preliminary study but final design was postponed due market requirements.

4.Petranova CO2 Pipeline metering stations, W.A. Parish, Tx

Several meter stations complete with instrumentation for the pipeline.

Drainage

1.Westwego Drainage Pump Station, for Jefferson Parish, La: Consisted of upgrade one 500 HP Drainage electric driven drainage pump (4160 Volts). New Stand by diesel generator, automatic transfer switch, fuel pumps compressor, MCC 480/277 volt, control panel, motor operated gate valves

2.Lake Cataouatche Drainage Pump Station for US Corp of Engineers

Consisted of upgrade five Drainage diesel driven drainage pumps. New Stand by diesel generator, automatic transfer switch, fuel pumps compressor, MCC 480/277 volt, control panel, motor operated gate valves

3.Pump Station 11, Drainage Pump Station for New Orleans Sewage and Water Board, consisting of five Drainage diesel driven drainage pumps. stand by diesel generator, automatic transfer switch, fuel pumps, air compressor, MCC (480/277 volt), control panel, motor operated gate valves.

4.Sicily Island, Fool River, TN, 4160V power distribution to drainage electric driven pumps

5. Drainage electrical pump station design, 50 to 250 HP each station consisting of three pump each, control panels, Bubbler pump control, 480V three phase. Total of 11 pump stations. These pumps were for the New Orleans Sewage and Water board, consisted of concrete block buildings, complete with SCADA, lighting, and ventilation.

Power Distribution & Substation Design

Responsible for all electrical design (engineer of record). All calculations performed by me in my laptop computer.

ETAP I trained a junior engineer to do the calculations under my direction, I verify settings and coordination curves approved and seal drawings, this includes Arc Flash warning labels.

I was responsible for all electrical design (engineer of record) all calculations were performed by me in the office computer.

1.Primary distribution and substations (2400V and 33KV), including Bus Duct, required protective relays and Switchgear for a Texaco refinery, in Fort Worth, TX.

2.Farm and Fuel Loading Dock, 13.8 KV primary distribution, substations, (with required protective relays) and 480V secondary transformers and load distribution.

3.Overhead primary power distribution and substations for a SOHIO tank farm and pipeline, 13.8 KV. (Salem, Indiana to Vandalia, Ohio). Included in this project was secondary 480V overhead distribution. This project included several distribution systems each with several service points and substations.

4.Atlas refinery extension in Shreveport (Bio-Remediation Project) Primary distribution and substations to SUNO, New Orleans University Campus. 13.8 KV.

Lift Station Design

1.Sewage electrical pump station design, from 25 to 250 HP each station consisting of three pump each, with control panels, bubbler level control, 480V three phase. Total of 8 pump stations. These pumps were for the New Orleans Sewage and Water Board, consisting of concrete block buildings, complete with SCADA, lighting, and ventilation.

2.Sewage electrical pump stations design, from 25 to 150 HP each station consisting of two pumps, control panels, level transmitter pump control, 480V three phase. Total of 30 pump stations. These pumps were for Jefferson Parish, pump stations were submersible, complete with SCADA.

3.Sewage electrical pump station design, from 25 to 50 HP each station consisting of two pump each, control panels, level transmitter pump control, 480V three phase. Total of 5 pump stations. These pumps were for Biloxy, Ms. pump stations were submersible.

4.Sewage electrical pump station design, from 25 to 150 HP each station consisting of two pumps, control panels, level transmitter pump control, 480V three phase. Total of 34 pump stations. These pumps were for the city of Slidell, La, pump stations were submersible, complete with SCADA.

Computer UPS Room

1.Designed UPS battery room and system, including UPS for MICHOUD NASA facility in New Orleans.

Nestor Houghton INC, DBA Houghton Engineering Inc, 1989-2012 (Closing due to local economy)

I started Houghton Engineering in 1989. It was a small Engineering firm doing approximately $ 200,000.00 per year. I use contract help, me doing the bulk of the electrical engineering work, my net income ranged from $90,000 to $180,000.

Scope of my work included marketing, customer relations, all other duties associated with management as well as design.

Fault current calculations were done with SKM computer program.

Electrical Engineering Supervisor

NY Associates is a Consulting Engineering and Architectural firm. Responsibilities included design work associated with historical, commercial and government projects. Mr. Houghton was responsible for design of power and lighting systems and Life/Safety systems. Mr. Houghton was responsible for the electrical work for the fire repairs at the New Orleans Cabildo.
