M.Tech PROJECT DETAILS
TITLE
“Fatigue Life Enhancement of an Elevator Drive Composite Shaft”
ABSTRACT
The fatigue failure prediction and prevention is very important for the transmission/drive shafts which have to transmit heavy torque. The problem gains importance by the developing trend of utilizing the optimized shafts for heavy load applications where they have to work under alternating/variable loads. Thus a proper design and the assembling methods should be adopted to prevent the fatigue failure and to enhance the fatigue life of the shaft.
In this project a detailed study of an elevator drive shaft is carried out. The failure of the shaft will be occurred at the keyway slot. Two materials will be used for the life estimation of the shaft that is steel-52 (st52) and boron. The tools will be used for the FE analysis of elevator drive shaft are Solid Works for modelling, Hyper Mesh for meshing and ANSYS for analysis, the analysed results from both the materials for shaft are compared with each other to evaluate which material is better.

TITLE
“Trouble shooting & maintenance of CNC XL turret lathe”
ABSTRACT
The Computer Numeric Control (CNC) is a technology which aims to generate and execute sequential actions that describes the behavior of the end effectors. Thus it is also reported the development of the basic electronic devices to run a CNC machine and proposes, as well, a software developed in Lab VIEW to establish the communication between the machine and the computer.
The main objective of this project is to trouble shoot the problems which occur in CNC machine, study about management of maintenance of the CNC machine.
Failure of machine leads to loss of time, man hour, machine hour, hence loss in production. This lead us to take this project how to trouble shoot CNC machine.
An effort has been made to identify the fault that has occurred in the existing CNC machine and rectify the same which has been done effectively.
