Facilities Maintenance Manager 1989 – 2012

Planned strategy to ensure efficient management of assets – Managed, maintained and supported the reliability of the systems, equipment, properties and assets in the facilities and grounds.

Managed contracts, contractors, and procurement functions and provided support for the facility’s budget of one and a half million dollars.

Maintained and operated the facilities – Managed resources including budget, staff, contractors, consultants and finances.

Supervised and was responsible for 14 individuals including, custodians, carpenters, electricians, painters and laborers. Planned, organized, directed and evaluated the performance of staff. Established performance requirements and personnel development targets. Regularly monitored performance and provided coaching for performance improvement and development. Recommended disciplinary action if necessary up to including termination.

Responsible for the maintenance and renovation of 7 school buildings, 11 public buildings, including city hall, police stations, fire stations and pump stations.

Directed the initiation of school security cameras and major system upgrades and implementations linking schools to police and emergency systems. Devised enterprise strategies safeguarding the security of city buildings and assets while ensuring compliance with regulatory mandates.

Assisted in the development and launch of secure, recoverable and fault-tolerant safety logging of hazardous materials procedures, OSHA regulations, blood borne pathogens and homeland security interface workshops.
