SUMMARY

Having recently graduated with a master in international business in Paris (2016), I have a six-month experience as intern in a major soft commodities trading company based in Switzerland, working in particular in supply in West and Central Africa and looking to all aspect linked to logistic traffic, trading assistant, and supply chain monitoring in this region. After two month in Abidjan, I have been integrated to the front desk in Lausanne, assisting traders for tendering and selling operation mostly to clients based in South East Asia.

EXPERIENCE

ECOM AGROINDUSTRIAL Corp. Ltd - Cotton trading desk - Intern April – September 2016

Middle office (Abidjan): Instructing surveyors, issuing vessel’s nomination as well as loading and discharge orders, issuing documentary or stand-by letter of credits, or CAD, reviewing, amending and sending out trade confirmations to counterparties and executing contracts, working on the quality claims, develop or maintain supplier or customer relationships and visiting the biggest cotton ginning companies.

Front desk (Lausanne): Sending offer during the cotton campaign, making forward book and future positions of the company, negotiation with shipping companies (answering to tender offers), devise trading, option, or hedge strategies, identify opportunities or develop channels for purchase or sale of securities or commodities, Inform other traders, managers, or customers of market conditions, including volume, price, competition, or dynamics. Making report on the meteorological situation of West Africa in order to predict the volume of the new crop. Supporting traders with fundamental macroeconomic research focusing on commodity supply and demand relationships.

Logistic and transport : Supervised the import and export of freight for full container loads and bulk cargo Directed the storage and distribution of products for major clients. Managed employee hiring, training and development.

Business development: Worked on the acquisition and development of large-scale maritime infrastructure projects (bulk terminals, logistic base for petroleum industry) undertaken in various countries of Sub-Saharan Africa (Senegal & Ivory Coast). Worked on development and implementation of the development strategy. Identification of opportunities and project management (response tendering, purchasing, mergers etc.), control of preparatory studies and organizing the collection, analysis and dissemination of information necessary for making strategic decisions.
