Experience:

2013-present, Process Engineer, NovaTorque, Inc., Fremont, CA

• Developed motor manufacturing processes for unique, best in class efficiency electric motors from magnet gluing in the rotor, laser cutting of silicon steel laminations, and BMC transfer molding of the conical shaped stator.

• Developed fiber laser cutting process to produce electrical steel lamination stacks for conical shaped motor stators.

• Developed the process to convert the laser cutting machine for different size laminations cutting.

• Set-up new manufacturing sites in the U.S. and overseas through process, tooling, and equipment qualifications and well as training technicians, operators and assemblers.

• Developed the process for transfer molding of BMC molding compound for conical shaped stators.

• Successful implementation of DFMEA, PFMEA, 8D, process capability studies and other analytical tools. Wrote ECO's to structure new BOM's.

• Designed tooling for magnet size GO/NO-GO gauges; designed fixtures for rotor gluing and merging of major sub-assemblies.

• Resolve motor manufacturing issues involving vibration, balancing, Ke, and efficiency tests.

• Wrote and edited work instructions on magnet gluing, rotor assembly, steel lamination laser cutting, BMC mold compound transfer molding, bearing on shaft pressing and hot dropping, rotor on shaft pressing, rotor balancing, vibration testing, and motor Ke testing.

2012-2013, Mechanical Engineer, Bloom Energy (contracting through Aerotek), Sunnyvale, CA

• Procure tooling, workstations, and test equipment for a new manufacturing location in Delaware.

• Developed the manufacturing floor layout to optimize process flows and future Kaizen and value stream mapping opportunities.

• Interact with cross functional groups to provide building construction contractors information to proceed with electrical and other utility requirements for the new Delaware manufacturing plant.

• Track Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and deviations so that the new team in Delaware can implement.

2012, Mechanical Engineer, (contracting through PEAK Technical), XEI Scientific, Redwood City, CA

• Designed gas manifolds and vacuum chamber support frames

2010-2012, Vacuum Deposition Engineer, AQT Solar, Sunnyvale, CA

• Designed automated solar cell I-V testing on PV Measurements IV5 to reduce processing time by 10X using a motorized XY stage to move the substrate and a solenoid for vertical probe movement, thereby improving measurement precision, repeatability and speed.

• Designed automation for chemical bath deposition (CBD) of cadmium sulfide (CdS) buffer layer. Processed more than 1000 batches of CdS on CIGS and CZTS solar cells. Trained technicians on the operation and monitoring.

• Managed the qualification of a new 1200 unit per hour capacity solar cell top grid conductive ink printer (DEK PV1200). Developed the ink curing temperature profile. Wrote the procedure and trained technicians on the operation, maintenance and monitoring of the tool and process. Drafted the top grid drawing for full and small cells.

• Developed laser ablation process for P3 scribe of CIGS and CZTS solar cells using OpTek Systems laser.

• Designed solar cell holder, positioner, and electrical contacts for light-beam-induced-current (LBIC) tool.

• Operated AJA high vacuum sputtering tool to sputter CIGS and CZTS R&D solar cells and TCO (iZO, AZO).

• Designed solar cell annealing enclosures. Designed small tools, fixtures and templates for solar cell processing.

2007-2010, Mechanical Engineer, Excel Precision Corporation, Santa Clara, CA

• Designed mechanical components for Zeeman laser based precision measuring systems with nanometer resolution.

• Prepared procedures, forms, work instructions, and other documentation for successful ISO 9001 registration.

• Audited documents and procedures for ISO 9001 compliance.

• Implemented continuous process improvement.

2003-2007, Engineering Technician, Seagate Technology, Fremont, CA

• Process hard disk drive (HDD) media with high vacuum sputtering tools, including Intevac 200Lean.

1997- 2002, Manufacturing Design Engineer, KLA-Tencor, San Jose, CA

• Managed manufacturing test processes at suppliers and contract manufacturers to maintain accurate, repeatable process instructions and testing criteria.

• Established qualification processes for outsourcing frame assembly of about 2000 parts, which includes the main steel frame, power supply modules, cable harnessing, air blower, and pneumatic isolators.

• Ensured accuracy of drawings, specifications, BOM’s, and process instructions and maintained them through Engineering Change Orders (ECO). Implemented ECO’s at suppliers and contract manufacturers.

• Transferred KLA-Tencor’s new 300 mm wafer inspection machine from engineering, through pilot manufacturing, and to outsourcing to a contract manufacturer as part of a New Product Introduction (NPI) team.
