Deloitte Tax – Chicago, IL 8/2014-4/2015
Tax Manager, Charitable Tax Group
Managed and directed the outsourcing of the JPMC Charitable Tax Group to Deloitte Tax. Achievements and responsibilities included:
Developing and implementing proven processes that ensured the accurate completion and timely filing of over 3,000 returns by a staff of six professionals.
Through the introduction of OneSource software, combined with new policies and procedures, the Chicago tax group far exceeded the number of returns processed by all other regional charitable tax groups.
Designated as trusted liaison between JPMC’s liaison team, Deloitte Tax Staff and Deloitte executive leadership to ensure successful completion of off-shoring initiative.
Off-shoring over 700 returns to Deloitte Tax India (Hyderabad) that required collaborating with Hyderabad management to develop training materials and train staff.
Through the use of Deloitte Interns, developing protocol for the valuations for 800 Unitrusts; delivering effective training; and auditing quality.
JPMorgan Chase Bank – Chicago, IL 06/2012-08/2014
Tax Manager (Vice President), Charitable Tax and Payroll Tax Groups
Built the Chicago office by successfully consolidating and relocating operations from Milwaukee, WI and Newark, DE. Selected achievements included:
Identifying and eliminating non-core, high risk returns that exposed firm to financial or reputation risk.
Developing new processes, procedures and training programs for the preparation of over 3,000 returns
by seven staff members.
Off-shoring over 700 returns and the valuation process for 800 trusts to JPMC India (Mumbai).
Collaborating with Mumbai management to develop proper training materials and train off-shore staff via a web-based platform. Developed a monitoring program for tax preparation process and returns before filing.
Managing payroll for 125 clients.
The Northern Trust Company – Chicago, IL 09/2008-6/2012
Tax Manager (Vice President) Charitable Tax, Corporate Tax, and Personal Tax Groups
Managed three departments for the preparation of 4,500 personal tax and trust returns, and over 3,000 agency letters to corporate clients. Other achievements included:
Instituting cost saving measures such as direct mail of agency letters for a cost savings of $30,000 annually, a second monitor for tax preparation thus reducing printing costs, and converting paper files in the Personal and Charitable Tax Groups to a paperless format with the effect of reducing storage and printing costs.
Reducing headcount in the Corporate Tax Group from seven to three, saving over $250,000, while maintaining employee morale and quality.
Avoiding $300,000 in penalties by eliminating or outsourcing non-core, high-risk returns in the Corporate and Personal Tax Groups.
Team Leader (Second Vice President), Charitable Tax Group 5/2005-9/2008
Managed a Chicago-based team of four professionals for the accurate and timely preparation of all charitable trust returns for the company. Responsibilities included:
Integrating the newly adapted software platform to improve existing processes.
Working for two months in Northern Trust’s Bangalore, India office to coordinate offshoring of over 300 personal tax returns from the Chicago office, including developing all related processes, procedures, auditing protocol and training materials.
Coordinating closely with local Bangalore management to ensure proper training and a seamless transition of the off-shoring plan.
Tax Analyst (Trust Officer), Personal Tax Group 01/2000-01/2004
Responsible for preparing individual and payroll returns for high net worth clients.
Created tax plans for clients that minimized tax burden and maximized income. Considerations included stock options, charitable deductions and projections.
