Retail Controller 2001 – 2003

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, led and strengthened the Retail Accounting Group in all accounting and control processes. Managed and directed a team of 20 professionals.

Delivered quicker monthly closing times and stronger inventory controls by installing a new Tomax point-of- sale system and Oracle accounting package integration, which provided detailed product movement information, standardized SKU's across all stores, daily sales results to the product level and ease of consolidation.

Reduced field staff by 10 people, resulting in annual savings of $600,000 by designing and installing new accounting controls and procedures throughout the Company Stores Group to ensure company assets were protected, financial results were timely and accurate and sales information was available in real time.

Directed the monthly closing process of the Company Stores Group to be included in the consolidated results. Planning Manager 1999 – 2001

Reporting to the SVP - Planning & Analysis, managed the design, implementation and acceptance of a new business planning discipline within the company. Managed and directed a team of 10 professionals.

Realized a first year savings of $65 Million in spending, which was redirected to sales-driving efforts, by designing and introducing a new planning process that changed the company mindset from one of entitlement spending to one of justification, return on investment and capital rationing.

Developed a planning calendar, historical database of results and planning templates to facilitate the process of department managers preparing insightful spending requests and plans.

Developed a monthly tracking process to measure actual results to plan and implemented a latest-estimate rationale to adjust spending throughout the company to react to actual results, shifting spending as needed to ensure the company attained planned results for the year. Reporting to the Corporate Accounting Manager, directed all financial reporting related to 60+ co-owned retail operations throughout the U.S. Completed the monthly consolidation of total company results for both accounting and tax. Managed and directed a team of 10 professionals.

Oversaw the monthly closing process of 60 co-owned retail operations.

Contributed as a team member on a cross-functional team chartered to completely restructure the manufacturing and distribution activities of the company.
