Engineer for Implement valve and Swing frame sub-assembly of Mini Hydraulic Excavators

Resolved various continuous improvement activities and Safety issues such as providing compressed air for extending the cylinder rod, getting tie-strap gun for improved efficiency, installing hydraulic battery operated jack to eliminate manual jack and to improve efficiency, to name a few.

Madhura Industries - Shop floor Manager (July’11 – January’13) Chennai, India

Revised factory layout using AutoCAD to streamline operations resulting in 18% increase in production. Measured the distance between each machining operation and analyzed in AutoCAD and MS Excel to find out an optimized layout.

Studied the cycle time and takt time for every operation from receiving the raw material to finished goods dispatch. Charts are created in MS Excel to find the bottleneck operations. Replaced Shaping operation with Milling, modified the clamping method in fixtures using AutoCAD and ProE, eliminated drilling operation and outsourced the job to be punched thereby reducing cycle time and matching the takt time.

PROJECTS and RESEARCH

Research on Sheet Metal Bending

- A Bending-Machining Hybrid Process for Dimensional Accuracy Enhancement. Combined the merits of both bending and machining to get accurate dimension by calculating the optimized thickness, finding the deflection of workpiece using ProE Mechanica, finding the deflection of cutting tool, making surface model in Pro-E, generating tool path in MasterCAM. The part is bent and machined and the result is verified using CMM.

Folding Scooter Company - Lean Manufacturing project

-As a team of four, developed process charts, process flow diagram and value stream mapping. Analyzed the seven wastes (MUDAS) and proposed solution using 5-why analysis. Updated the DFMEA and control charts. Proposed poka-yoke and standardized procedure and reduced the cost by 6%.

County Line Tool Inc., East Peoria - Facilities planning project

-As a team of two, studied the factory layout and proposed improved layout using Factory CAD, Factory FLOW, Teamcenter Visualization Mock up 8.3, Jessen Excel Add-in and WinQSB software.

Illinois Department of Transportation - Quality Control project

-As a team of two, studied the compressive strength testing of concrete using control charts and suggested improvement in quality control.
