This might not be a normal resume for applying for employment, but it’s probably the easiest way for you to understand my past employment (and a bit more).
At the age of 17, I graduated from Granite Falls High School.
At the age of 18, I went to Moorhead State University for two years for general classes.
At 20, I worked at a law firm in Grand Forks, ND, while my fiancé was going to college there. My dad was a lawyer and I had worked at his office for a few summers. My interest in law and secretarial duties started then.
At 22, I went to St. Cloud Business College for Court Reporting classes.
At 23, I was in my last quarter of Court Reporting classes (the 200 words per minute quarter)…and at that same time, I married my fiancé and never finished my final quarter. I worked at a law firm in Bloomington while he finished Chiropractic College.
At 25, I had my first of five daughters and we moved to Montevideo, MN, where he started his Chiropractic business.
From 25-30, I was the office manager and did all of the Chiropractic secretarial duties.
From 30-39, I stayed home and took care of my daughters and all of the home duties.
At 40, my youngest started kindergarten and I started working as a teacher’s assistant by having my name on the sub list at each school in Montevideo. I was called often by a variety of teachers and I enjoyed the various jobs.
From 41 to my present age of 55, I was hired by Small World Nursery School full time as a teacher’s assistant. My main jobs consisted of taking care of the art projects each day, serve the snacks, and play as much as possible. Small World Nursery School is a preschool within Sanford Education Center in Montevideo, MN. We have four separate classes of 16 children in each class between the ages of 3-5. My days are busy with the 64 little ones, and very rewarding.
All of my five daughters have moved now and I’ve decided it’s time to downsize and move as well. One of my daughter’s married a Detroit Lakes man and they’re planning on building their life and family there. Another daughter is dating a man from Detroit Lakes and they are thinking of living there too. It was their initial suggestion that I downsize to a home or apartment in Detroit Lakes to be closer to them and any possible grandchildren to come. After quite a bit of thought, I’m now eager to move to your beautiful town.
I will miss working at Small World Nursery School, but I made the decision to give them my notice. I will continue working with them until the end of July, and it’s my hope to find employment and a place to live in or near the Detroit Lakes area by September 1st.
