Soil core samples from a natural waste water treatment site were prepared and tested for nitrogen/carbon content and isotopic fractions, as well as oxide element and volatile solid chemistry. Chemical analysis of the core samples implicated a preferential flow of waste water effluent and fertilizer caused by heterogeneities in the soil profile.

Marcellus Center for Outreach and Research Internship Investigated local water-treatment, water-quality, and environmental issues by obtaining, organizing and summarizing well data.
