Scaw Metals South Africa – Melt shop no.3 Workshop. Shift Fitter and Turner 2008 December– up to date

Duties:

Carried out repairs to different types of arc furnace equipment e.g. steel casting machine, pumps, valves, pipe work, conveyer belt,turrets, dust extraction machinery, fans, bucket elevators.

Hydraulic and Pneumatic equipment, that is borehole drill rigs, compressors, tractor cranes etc. Plant hydraulic power packs.

Repairs to valves, heat exchangers, filters and cooling tower fans.

Maintenance of reduction and step up gearboxes, winches and bucket conveyers.

Coupled motors to pumps using different coupling equipment and cooling towers.

Replaced bearings, bushes, fault diagnosis, inspection and lubrication.

Turning and machining with the use of – lathe, milling, drilling and shaping machines.

Basic fabrication – use of oxy – acetylene set, welding machines and accessories.

Procurement of spares parts, house keeping.
