THESIS - “Developing Efficient Routing for the Garbage Vehicle”

To minimize the total travelling and processing time for the garbage pick-up, by developing an efficient route for the garbage truck.

To find the best route amongst the alternatives present, using ARENA simulation tool and to analyze the cost incurred in picking up the garbage for the city of Kingsville.

Project Engineer

ControlTek Automation Inc., Belgaum, India

July 2013 – July 2014

Assembly in-charge of the Computer Numerical Control (CNC) assembly shop.

Troubleshooting and Problem Solving of the CNC turning machines that are assembled in-house.

Continuous Improvement: Increased productivity by reducing the cycle time by 7 min for each and every component.

Reported and documented any abnormalities using 8D analysis in the machining process of the CNC components and made recommendations for preventive maintenance.

Kaizen Event: Reduced operator injuries by 1% during mounting of the heavy parts by proposing a ‘kaizen’ for safety of the operators at the work station.

5S Implementation: Proposed a canal type fixture to direct the burrs emitting from Capstan and turret lathe machine into the collection container with the help of conveyor belt in an organized manner, thus, reducing overall waste without over flowing.

Internship Merlin Hydraulics Pvt. Ltd, Belgaum, India Feb 2013 -May 2013

Responsibility was based on phosphating the iron shafts using the chemicals Protobond and Protoklin.

Developed a chemical solution to prevent corrosion of shafts which helped us to increase the life of the shaft.

1000 phosphated shafts were supplied to one of the leading automotive firm, Bajaj Industries Pvt. Ltd.

Conducted humidity test and salt spray test to check the reliability of the phosphated shafts.

Project Feb 2013 -May 2013

“Iron Phosphating” – Under the guidance of Dr. K.B.Jagadeeshgouda (Associate Professor – Dept. of Mechanical Engineering – S.G.Balekundri Institute of Technology, VTU, Belgaum, India)

Developed a process flowchart for the shafts to be phosphated

Implemented 5S to reduce waste generation from spills.

Implementation of 5 Why helped the team to get the better result.

Maintained 3 ~ 4 microns coating on the shaft surface so as to make sure that the shafts would not rust in any atmosphere.

Fulfilled needs of the esteemed automotive organization (Bajaj Industries Pvt. Ltd) by phosphating 1000 shafts.
