To,

The Director/Principal

Sub: Applying for the Post of IBDP/IGCSE/PGT/HOD/JEE Physics Teacher.

Dear Sir/Madam,

It is with great pleasure that I seek to secure an IBDP/IGCSE/PGT/HOD/JEE Physics Teaching position in your esteemed institution. I believe that my instructional abilities, combined with my strong interpersonal skills and work ethics would greatly benefit your educational program.

I am an individual who has done Aircraft Maintenance Engineering after 10+2 from the prestigious Indian Institute of Aeronautics, certified by DGCA (Director General of Civil Aviation), which is further certified by FAA (Federal Aviation Administration, USA) and ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization). It is a three years Professional/Licensing Aviation Engineering Course approved by Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India. However, a strong passion for reading, an urge to pursue the teaching profession and fascination for physics enthused me to opt for the career of a teacher.

I have an experience of 16 years of physics teaching in higher secondary level with very high proficiency. I am passionate about working with children and many of my students have expressed that they found the subject quite interesting and easy after attending my classes as previously they found it one of the toughest subjects. I have instilled in my students the desire to take up the challenges like IITs and IIITs.

For me, honesty in my work is of foremost importance. I am keen to work in such an educational institution where –

The school authority and the Academic Head of the institution have the highest regard for honesty and patriotism.

The academics and discipline are the prime concern.

Can your esteemed institution provide me an opportunity to serve my nation and society with utmost honesty and the dignity of a teacher?

My resume, which is annexed herewith, contains detailed information on my experience and skills. I would appreciate the opportunity to contact you and provide further information on my candidacy.

I look forward to speaking with you about any exciting opportunity at your convenience.

Sincerely Yours,

Debabrata Biswas

My Philosophy of Education

Teaching is the holiest of all professions.

– Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam

I believe a good teacher, first, should have a powerful faith in the future. Like the forester planting an oak seedling knowing he or she will never see the tree in all its glory, I know I may never see the fruits of my labors as teacher, I may not see my country as completely peaceful, prosperous, corruption-free and developed. But my calling is to plant and nurture seeds that will grow and shape tomorrow.

I believe a teacher is the most powerful of role models. Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam opines that only parents and teachers can make the country corruption-free by being role models in front of the children. Therefore, I am ever aware of the awesome obligation that I have to “walk my talk” with my students. If I ask them to live their values and beliefs, I must do the same. A teacher has the opportunity to impact on students’ lives in a positive way; this is a huge privilege that shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Therefore, as a teacher I appreciate that precepting is better than preaching and for that I follow the excellent dictum, honesty is the only policy. In my personal, social and professional life also, I follow the path of ethics and honesty in my humble way. Just as light takes the path of least time and does not refract or deviate from its own path when it strikes a transparent medium normally or perpendicularly, similarly I face every favorable and unfavorable situations of life normally, naturally with honesty, simplicity and transparency to remain undeviated from ‘what I teach’ to set an ideal example in front of my pupils.

A good teacher cannot begin or continue to inspire learning without being a learner. He must constantly learn what is new in the discipline. To live this belief, I must continuously examine my teaching methods and find new ones. To remain connected to my students, their lives and the schools in which they will practice their professions, I must be a student of society and the constantly changing worlds in which students live. I eagerly and willingly learn from my students as they learn with me.

I use my knowledge of the discipline to expose my students to modes of critical thinking, encouraging them to analyze, apply, synthesize, and evaluate all they read and hear. I love the subject I teach, and I know how to make them come alive for my students. It is my responsibility as a teacher to be an effective diagnostician of students’ interests, abilities, and prior knowledge. I must then plan learning experiences that will both challenge and allow every student to think and grow.

My overall philosophy of education is based on the following statement - Education is to train oneself to live the life of the truth, for the truth, by the truth - which is supported extensively by the laws of physics and which is also the very meaning of the word Science /Scientia/ Scire means to know (the truth). Furthermore, physics is the study of the nature; therefore studying physics should make a human natural; it will teach human how to live their lives in compliance with the nature. A student of physics, after studying physics, should realize that he is not the physical body, he is a non-physical entity; he is not matter, he is The Consciousness Absolute, The Energy Absolute, The Existence-Consciousness-Bliss Absolute.

Therefore, beyond striving to ensure that my students learn the fundamental content of the courses I teach, my broader objectives as a teacher is to create future citizen of my country, who will –

Be an honest human.

Strive for the peace and prosperity of their motherland and humanity at large; contribute to India Vision 2020 envisioned by Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam in their own way.

Quest for the ultimate purpose of human life as endorsed by Erwin Schrodinger, - To find out the answer of the ultimate question ‘Who am I’ is the real science.

I, humbly and sincerely, try to follow the following Ten Commandments –Ten Points Oath for Teachers Administered By Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam on 5th September, 2005:

1.First and foremost, I will love teaching. Teaching will be my soul.

2.I realize that I am responsible for shaping not just students but igniting youths who are the most powerful resources under the earth, on the earth and above the earth. I will be fully committed for the great mission of teaching.

3.As a teacher, it will give me great happiness, if I can transform an average student of the class to perform exceedingly well.

4.All my actions with my students will be with kindness and affection like a mother, sister, father or brother.

5.I will organize and conduct my life in such a way that my life itself will be a message for my students.

6.I will encourage my students and children to ask questions and develop the spirit of enquiry, so that they blossom into creative enlightened citizens.

7.I will treat all the students equally and will not support any differentiation on account of religion, community or language and I will celebrate the success of my students.

8.I will continuously build the capacities in teaching so that I can impart quality education to my students.

9.I realize by being a teacher, I am making an important contribution to all the national development initiatives.

10.I will constantly endeavour to fill my mind, with great thoughts and spread the nobility in thinking and action among my students.
