After a three-year period of heightened philanthropic prioritization in our headquarters market of
Portland, shifted role to be able to refocus on a national, company-wide CSR strategy and to
launch a new philanthropic movement in partnership with communities, nonprofit organizations
and foundations, and our network of employees and families across 2,000 locations in the U.S.
Continued leading ongoing community work on behalf of KU, while building our long-term CSR
strategy, including the relaunch of KUs corporate foundation
Continued as point person and company representative on community policy partnerships related
to children, education, literacy, and other areas
Continued to provide all communications and messaging support to CEO and other C-suite

Asked in 2011 to lead all internal and external communications for the company
Inherited a distressed internal communications function in 2011 and led a revamp that saw a small,
capable team strategically deliver hundreds of touchpieces to 30,000 employees across the
country through various platforms and channels
Personally crafted all CEO messaging, including emails, announcements, speeches. Worked
closely with the CEO on a daily basis from his arrival in 2012 until my departure, spanning a
company turnaround that saw KU reach 15 consecutive quarters of year-over-year growth
Responsible for all companywide announcements and part of the core team that planned all
organization changes, reductions in force, etc.
Developed communications voice and vehicles to help move the company from a compliance
culture to a culture built around our mission to care for and educate children
Managed PR team that engaged media dozens of times per month and personally led response
and support on major crises and events, including tragic deaths of children in our care, a measles
outbreak in Illinois, and misconduct by KU teachers

Built and led national philanthropic campaigns, including center-based annual fundraising efforts
that netted over $4 million annually, and early literacy campaigns that distributed books and
resource materials to hundreds of thousands of children and parents. Also led effort to support
tens of thousands of military families across the U.S.
Served on numerous boards of directors, community panels, and other groups hosted by nonprofit,
civic, and government agencies, particularly in support of educational issues
Part of a six-person team that developed and launched the Grove School, a premium early

Hired by KinderCare to build a national, centralized grants function for centers eligible for
government funding
Led small team that provided end-to-end support to centers and sites. Grants revenues increased
from $70,000 the year prior to my arrival to over $300,000 in 2003, and to $4 million by 2011,
when I moved the function to our government relations group
