Used blueprints to determine locations, positions, or dimensions of parts while installing premade boilers into buildings and manufacturing facilities. Lay out prefabricated parts of larger boilers before assembling them. Bend sections of metal into shape to form outline of boiler. Attached and inspect water tubes, stacks and liners, safety and check valves, and water and pressure gauges, fittings, feed pumps, boiler controls, and auxiliary machinery. Test and inspect boiler tanks for any leaks or defects. Replace or repair broken valves, pipes, or joints, using welding equipment, power tools, and gas torches. Clean vats using scrapers, wire brushes, and cleaning solvents.
