Process Control Engineer

Established a Controls Network ring and connected 9 Allen Bradley PLC with associated Panel Views and 3 Honeywell PLC to this ring.

Set up a new Historian using ParcView.

Collaborated with other Engineers to help start up 2 new Crystallizers. Worked with a Contractor to set up the programing and the Panel View HMI.

Worked on a project to automate a new Hydrolyze process. Ordered all of the instruments and valves necessary for this project. Designed the I/O cabinets and help install the instruments. Programmed the PLC and built all of the screens for the HMI.

Work with the E&I supervisor to help troubleshoot problems in the plant.

JOHNSON MATTHEY INC., Savannah, GA 2008 – 2015

Process Control Engineer

Drove on time and under budget commission and start-up of new catalyst plant by collaborating with team of engineers.

oImplemented use of System Platform.

oDeveloped new control philosophy and installed new version of Wonderware Historian by working with 3rd-party integrators.

oControlled plant and integrated with System Platform by utilizing custom UDT and Function block in PLC code.

Ensured instruments were ordered and on time by working with project engineer and supporting instrumentation and electrical part of projects.

oWrote PLC code to implement project.

Doubled the number of attrition units and came in under budget 40% by building and programming new piece of lab equipment for QC lab.

Kept plant running and maintained backup of system by managing Process Control system for entire site. This consisted of 3 PLC5 connected by Controlnet to 40 Flex I/O node distributed throughout plant, 15 SLC 5/03 and 5/04 spread throughout plant and HMI system.

Set up historian using Ihistorian and Proficy Portal, allowing Process Engineering to trend process conditions and make improvements.

Provided better control of process and monitoring of product by converting several single loop controls at Bismuth plant to compact logix platform.

Collaborated with project engineers on specifying and ordering correct control instruments for job and programming for projects.

Upgraded PC used on control systems and in office areas by working with IT department.

Reduced Scada count from 10 servers to 2 and moved all Iclients from stand-alone PC to Terminal Server through 5-year capital plan that upgraded control systems to control logix platform and replaced Controlnet network with Ethernet. Connected all SLC 5/03 and 5/04 to common network.

oSpecified new hardware to replace older PLC that were reaching end of life cycle.

oConsolidated SCADA system into more centralized system that was easier to maintain.

Controls Engineer

Increased solids in pigment slurry by collaborating with R&D engineers on control systems for new filtration system.

Upgraded graphic when changed from Winview to RSview and converted from Nematron display to RSview.

oReplaced software and hardware that had reached end of life cycle.
