WORK EXPERIENCE

Image Processing and Informatics Lab, USC Biomedical Department, Research Intern June 2016-Present

Perform research in image processing in clinical environments.

Manual segmentation of lateral ventricles in CT images using ITK-SNAP to understand the effects of stroke on ventricular volume.

Segmentation and analysis of ventricular volumes with BrainSuite for a hypothesis regarding symmetry between ventricles for stroke patients.

HEIG-VD, Canton of Vaud, Switzerland, Intern, Professor Enrico M. Staderini Aug 2013- May 2014

Designed the project - Study of Heart Rate Variability for Neuro-degenerative disorders - to diagnose for early symptoms of such disorders. Conducted theoretical research studies for the development of the processing algorithm.

Acquired raw ECG signals from diagnosed patients & volunteers; designed an algorithm in MATLAB to filter and obtain correlations between the signals. Modified & improved existing filtering and processing algorithms to implement up-to-date technology and techniques.

Exposed the volunteers to short horror movie to stimulate the neurons (sympathetic system) that corresponded to changes in the ECG signal. Used above algorithm to identify early symptoms of neuro-degenerative disorders by monitoring Heart Rate Variability.

Identified and solved electronic design problems and errors due to artifacts; resulted in more efficient and cost effective products. PSG Hospitals, Coimbatore, India, Intern Jan 2013- Jan 2014

Monitored ultrasonic patterns on soundwave display screen, captured high-quality readings, and photographed images of organs shown on display module.

Operated cardiac imaging and monitoring equipment and maintained detailed records of test results by entering data and patient information into computer.

GKNM Hospitals, Coimbatore, India, Intern Jun 2013- Dec 2013

Balanced, calibrated and recorded appropriate hemodynamic data and collected all pertinent data and calculations to aid the physician in interpreting results. Monitored patients’ response to dialysis therapy and reported any unusual findings to nurse supervisor, and conducted machine quality safety checks according to facility policy. PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Designed and implemented a Corrective and Preventive Action Plan (CAPA) for a real life medical device failure resulting in improved procedures for the future prevention of malfunctions Spring 2016

Compiled sections including sterilization and shelf life testing for a mock 510k document for Tacrolimus Assay Fall 2015

Prototyped testing of regulatory level compliances for real-time, continuous ultrasound monitoring of heart rate, thereby confirming its safety for market purposes Summer 2015

Compared results of Direct Fast Fourier Transform with filtered back-projection and Fourier slice theorem on sets of 2D CT images with MATLAB, leading to analysis of a better algorithm for different applications Spring 2015

Analyzed the effects of noise due to prosthetic device and stroke during bicep curl using MATLAB coding Fall 2014

Detection of tumors in Ultrasound images & fractures in CT bone images by Image segmentation in MATLAB Apr 2013

Designed a Phono Cardio-graphic Sensor and analyzed PCG to recognize the presence or absence of specific sounds which correlate to specific disorders of the heart using LABVIEW software using FFT and STFT Jan 2013 ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE

USC Housing, Summer Conferences, Special Olympics, Student assistant May 2015- May 2016

Communicated with various delegates and translators at Special Olympics 2015 to provide well thought out solutions for navigation.

Organized logistics of the conference guests to maintain a clear record leading to efficient management of information.
