Letter of Explanation Unemployed. Nov 2013 to Nov 2014 On October 25, 2013 after three weeks of increasingly serious symptoms my husband was unable to walk and was admitted to the Vanderbilt Medical Center. He was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome, an autoimmune disease of the nervous system. It requires a lengthy recovery period. On

November first he was transferred from Vanderbilt Hospital to Vanderbilt Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital. During his hospitalizations, I spent considerable time with him to offer him support and encouragement. Prior to this period I was employed by Magna Bank as a Senior Loan

Documentation Specialist III. On November 4th I was laid off from this position due to insufficient production at this Magna Bank site. My husband was released from Stallworth on November 26th. He was wheelchair bound and remained unable to walk. I remained at home to care for him. He required transportation to Nashville three times a week for physical and occupational therapy. The therapy sessions were reduced to twice a week in June. Our children were then home from school for the summer and required my care since my husband was still not walking effectively. He is now having one therapy session a week and has largely recovered the ability to walk. I feel confident that I can return to employment at this time.
