Experience:
Sales Associate/Shoe Department Manager – September 2015- April 2016
Macy’s – Lewisville, TX 972-***-**** (Amanda Ekbladh)
While working with Macy’s I was responsible for maintaining the sales floor and replacing merchandise that had been sold. This included creating RFID tags for merchandise to aid in the daily inventory count of display merchandise. In addition to this, I was also responsible for normal daily sales tasks like opening and closing the registers, processing transactions, assisting customers with purchases, opening credit accounts, and placing orders for merchandise not available in the store. Before leaving the company, I was in trained to become the department manager. This position included creating displays according to corporate schematics, processing and understanding sales reports, placing orders for new and/or replacement merchandise according to sales trends, assisting in the creation of employee schedules, collaborating with distributors to ensure that products ordered matched the area shopping demographics, and supervising up to twenty employees at a time. I left Macy’s when my family relocated to the Grayson County area and the daily commute was too great in comparison to the compensation I was receiving. I left on good terms, and am eligible for rehire.
Owner/Manager February 2010 – Current
Vapor Inc. (Vaporescence) Shady Oaks Dr. Denton, TX 972-***-**** (Nick Freeman)
As a partner in this company, my responsibilities varied greatly throughout my time with the company. I was in charge of all of all company communications, including lateral communication between managers, employees, and consumers, weekly newsletters to operators of stores, and building and maintaining relations with manufacturers and distributors. This would include negotiating prices with distributors and setting retail prices at reasonable, yet profitable margins. I was also in charge of creating marketing material for consumer education and to increase sales. This included, but not limited to social media, newspaper and radio ads Another one of my duties was all employee relations. This included employee retention and training, payroll, ensuring customers and employees remained satisfied, and on rare occasions employee disciplinary actions up to and including termination. Also, I oversaw our e-commerce division which shipped out daily orders to consumers that had been placed either via website or phone order. It also included checking new merchandise into the register We started the company in 2010 with one store and an online marketplace. The final part of my responsibilities with the company was any and all paperwork. From keeping receipts in chronological order by week, month, and year for tax purposes to working with the company’s CPA for tax purposes. I was in charge of comparing invoices, bills of lading and packing slips to check for discrepancies, and then fixing them. By the end of 2012, we had four stores and e-commerce, all of which reported profits within the first six months. To date, we have six stores and an e-commerce site and have never reported a loss. In order to reduce the amount of travel that I was doing to acquire new vendors and business, I stepped away from the daily operations to peruse an education and career in business administration. I am now strictly a silent partner with the company
Shipping/Receiving Manager August 2008- June 2009
Tener’s Western Wear 2524 Texoma Pkwy 903-***-**** (Kim Hughes)
As the shipping and receiving manager of Tener’s I was responsible for checking in all incoming merchandise into the sales system. This process would involve comparing shipments packing lists and contents to company sales orders, inputting them into the sales system with accurate prices and descriptions, contacting vendors and correcting any issues, and sending broken or damages merchandise back to the vendor for credit or replacements. I also was included in buy meetings with new vendors to purchase new products and negotiate prices and terms for said products. I created and set up displays to show new or featured products as they arrived, and helped the manager of the store with daily operations. I had to leave the company when the business I had created began to take off and needed my full attention.
Education
Grayson College/Collin College
August 2013 to June 2015 Associates in Business Administration
While obtaining my degree at Grayson and Collin College, I maintained a 3.5 GPA while working and going to school full time. I also made the Dean’s List for three semesters at Collin College and was asked to become a teacher’s assistant in the English department.
