To Whom it May Concern;
Please allow me the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Ramon Teixeira. I am a High School History and Social Sciences teacher from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I have been teaching in Toronto for the last 15 years. Although I love my career, I have decided to take some time away from it in order to explore some other opportunities. Eventually, I hope to return refreshed and with a new, more globally-minded perspective.
As you can see from perusing my resume, I am a fully-certified, qualified and experienced classroom teacher with a diverse range of experiences. What I could not describe in my resume is that I also feel that I truly possess an almost intangible and indescribable passion for teaching and connecting with young people that only those who have seen me teach will understand. My personal philosophy of education is that it is the teacher’s role to provide the tools that are necessary for student success, allowing them to develop into the individuals they are destined to become. This does not, however, preclude the necessity for occasional “direct assistance,” in the more traditional sense. I learned this basic truism while studying the martial arts – at first “rote,” memorization of forms is necessary to learn the basics of spacing, timing and even breathing. When the forms become “second nature,” however, the learner’s own personality begins to become apparent within their practice and the individual’s own “inner beauty,” begins to “shine through.” Thus, it is the same in all aspects of life.
I am a native English Speaker with an excellent and highly articulate command of the language from of years of voracious reading, public speaking and discourse. I love the English language and am well-aware of the myriad of opportunities that English Proficiency affords it’s learners. I have a relaxed and easy-going demeanor with students, because I believe that a fun and stress-free environment is the most conducive to learning. Although my experience with English Language Teaching is rather limited in scope, I am a very fast learner and am very open to new ideas, opinions and experiences. That having been said, I am also responsible, organized, conscientious, professional, hard-working and passionate about teaching. I feel I would be a great addition to your teaching team.
Thank you for taking time to look over my materials. I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Ramon Teixeira (B.A., B Ed.)
