PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

RETROTECH, West Henrietta, NY Jun 2014 – Current

Sr. Mechanical Engineer /Project Engineer responsible for a wide range of task for the Modernization and Retrofit of automated material handling and inventory management equipment (repairing, refurbishing and upgrading or improving any existing material-handling equipment to meet changing customer preferences and operational demands).

As the mechanical engineer, on the Project Team, I was responsible for design, manufacturing and procurement of all mechanical system components, within the project scope, schedule and cost. Also, as a member of the team participated in all meetings to discuss issues relative to project specifications and deliverables, as well as, the path toward any and all resolutions.

ALLEGHENY Valve & Coupling, Warren Pa Mar 2012 – Feb 2014

Sr. Design-Project Engineer

Engineering Project Leader responsible for the design, research, development and manufacture of a new product line to be used in the transportation industry. Also, responsible for all current company products; couplings, reducers, elbows, tees and crosses, both seamless and welded seam products.

Project Planning & monitoring using MS Project. Provided clean sheet product design concepts using CAD, FEM/FEA, and Simulation Flow Analysis modeling of all product key components and assemblies. Test of all critical components and assemblies. Engineering design concept selection, analysis and test reports provided. Tool Design (Load Test Fixture, Seat Development Fixtures, Pressure Test Fixture, CNC machining fixtures, Actuation Life Test Fixture (mechanized-motor-control) Robotic Weld Fixtures, Disc Rub & Polish Arbor with Nest for CNC, and oversaw all die design & build) associated with development, test and manufacture.

ASML (via John Galt Staffing), Wilton, Ct. Aug 2011 – Nov 2011

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, External Business:

Optical Scanner Project: Optical Support Equipment Design Engineer responsible for the design of assembly, integration and test equipment. Siemens NX (UG), TCE (Team Center) and MS Office (EXCEL & WORD) software was used in the modeling, configuration control and documentation of designs.

ITT –Geospatial System (Eastman Kodak CGS), Rochester, New York 2004 - 2010

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer:

Program Test Bench System Integration Engineer responsible for integration of all subsystems at the assembly level; space borne “environmental payload instrument”, STE (support test equipment) and environmental facility interfaces. A System Interface Control Document (ICD) was created to aid in the integration, planning and implementation of the required supporting documentation; mechanical, electrical and thermal configuration drawings, schematics, wire runs and interface analysis reports. The task was accomplished while meeting with team members, as well as program management to establish and document all requirements.

E122 Mechanical Actuator Design Team Engineer

Tolerance Stack Up Analysis; Developed an MS Excel worksheet to evaluate two similar but different precision flight actuator mechanisms with regard to dimensional and positional tolerance stack ups. The MS Excel worksheet had design formulas for calculation for all positional and tolerance effect of the actuator individual components and for assembly variability. All analytical calculations and results were documented in Engineering Technical Reports and released into Windhill (document management system), for configuration control / file management.

Mechanism Test Set Team Leader directing an engineering team in the development, design, manufacture and functional verification of precision flight actuators. A project plan, schedule and budget, was developed to establish a clear and accurate path forward towards the accomplishment of the task. Knowledge of mechanisms, optics (mirrors), optical mounts and optical systems such as; laser and beam splitter was necessary. System drawings, component analysis and system functionality predictions, as well as, test results were presented at the CDR, Critical Design Review. All contributing documentation was released into WindChill for configuration management.

Senior Systems Engineer:

Systems / Design Engineer responsible for the design, development and verification of a Thermal Interface Simulator System (flight instrument interface simulation) to be used in a thermal-vacuum chamber for system thermal balance and thermal vacuum testing of the instrument interface.

Lead System / Project Engineer responsible for managing the design and build of a space environment thermal shroud per the Statement of Work (SOW). Lead ITT / vendor team in the initial article specification, resolution of all design, manufacturing and business issues (schedule, cost and quality technical liaison for sub-contract issues/negotiations with vendor).

System Requirements Team Engineer responsible for the verification of the system specification as documented. Accomplished tasks included; System Requirements Document creation, performed review and analysis of all supporting documentation (Drawings, Test Procedures and Test Reports, Manufacturing Instructions, Analysis and Technical Reports). All requirement reviews and analysis results were documented in a Verification Report including approval of compliance, or non-approval with action item(s) and recommendations to be performed for completion of task for compliance.

The development and creation of several technical reports to support specific requirements was accomplished (Power Budget and Analysis, Acceleration Rates unit conversion report).

Gretag Imaging, Rochester, New York 1998 - 2002

Senior Mechanical Design Project Engineer

Project Team Lead Engineer; Led multi-discipline engineering responsible for the Engineering Design and Development of all electro-mechanical systems for a high speed photographic printer. The tasks included the integration of all mechanical, electrical hardware, software (controls), manufacture and service for these mechanized (automated) systems. Also, the delivery of all electro-mechanical system requirements and Subsystem Project Plans/Schedules to Project Managers as they pertain to the commercialization process; Phases and Gates.

The Pugh Concept Selection Process was used to select the design which best fit the system or subsystem requirements.

The subsystem and system layout and component designs were accomplished using AutoDesk Inventor for system modeling. CAE Enhanced Analytical Skills were used to perform engineering analysis prior to the manufacture and procurement of proto-types for engineering evaluation test models.

Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester, New York 1982 - 1998

Photo-Finishing, High Speed Printer (CLAS 35)

Film Track Lead Engineer; Advanced Photo Systems (APS) Printer Film Track. The major task was to create an automated film track capable of handling all existing film formats; 35mm, APS (24mm), and Re-order Systems (URS & KRS). Typical Engineering Team of; two mechanical engineers, one manufacturing engineer, one/two electrical engineer, one/two software engineer, customer service technicians and two designers.

A Universal Film Code Reader Deck, Print Decks, Drive Decks and Multi-purpose rollers were designed and developed to successfully accomplish this task. A full analysis of the existing film track (CLAS II) was necessary to gain knowledge and an understanding of film handling at the photo finishing level. Exact Constraint Web Handling and Tension Profile Diagrams were developed for both EXISTING and NEW film tracks. Up-front analysis was performed to support the design concepts prior to the fabrication of test fixtures and Engineering Models.
