PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Multi Products, Millersburg, Ohio
Manufacturer of gas well equipment and control electronics.
Software Engineer 2007-Present
Co-developed hardware design and developed software for production gas well controller.
Maintained user phone support and salesman training for controllers.
Modified software to meet customer and salesman requests.
Took over hardware design after electrical engineer left.
Developed several hardware and software prototype designs as requested.
Present controller design, in progress, achieved significant cost reduction while keeping functionality, and added Bluetooth cell phone connection. The Bluetooth chip chosen, can also act as a mesh network, allowing controllers to cooperate. Investigated making a data concentrator, which could economically transfer operation data of many gas wells to an internet connected database, via cell modem or satellite modem.
Also acted as IT manager, installing software, trouble shooting computer problems for users, maintaining servers and LAN, and performing off-site backups.
Haric (formerly Pentalim), Findlay, Ohio
Hardware and software consulting and High Temperature Electronics
Staff Engineer 2002-2007
Designed and built microprocessor control for nano-filter water softener system.
Created and field tested small microprocessor controlled filter cleaning system that cut filter maintenance in half.
Assisted in design of a dynamic jet engine control system to reduce pollutants in a NIST sponsored project. Worked with a NASA engineer to begin to convert his jet engine control software into a form executable by a small, high temperature microprocessor. Used VHDL to add a multiplexed interface to existing VHDL code LEON3 SPARC processor.
Built custom high temperature tester for Haric chip.
Did a separate feasibility study and designed digital interface in high temperature integrated circuit for sensors in jet aircraft.
INTERSIL CORPORATION, Findlay, Ohio
Integrated circuit manufacturer.
Acting IT and Yield Enhancement Manager 2002
Responsible for 300 node network of PC’s and servers.
Also responsible for maintaining production yield and feeding back corrective data to production, with staff of four.
Principle Systems Analyst 1995-2002
Responsible for Ingress engineering database, server administration, plant intranet webmaster.
Directed Y2K project, organizing testing, developing contingency and event day planning, resulting in plant readiness and two awards.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Starting online class for Swift, the Apple app language.
Constantly watching technological developments, products, and their prices, that might be useful, like FRAM, multi protocol wireless processors (combining Bluetooth, WIFI, 6LoPAN, etc.), satellite modems, bi-stable LCD, low power regulators, flexible solar panels.
