Career Summary
Eric is a seasoned in house counsel with a focus on fostering maximum business success while
managing attendant risks to acceptable levels. He has extensive experience as a senior attorney and
general counsel in counseling consumer goods and manufacturing companies on a wide range of

Executive Director & General Counsel, Asia/Pacific Region (Singapore; 9/2014 5/2016)
Lead counsel for Avon for the Asia/Pacific region, managing a legal department of nine
lawyers and one Senior Manager. Responsible for the provision of all legal services and the
administration of Ethics & Compliance policies and procedures for the APAC market
consisting of Australia, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Philippines,
Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
Coordinated and communicated with Global Legal and Compliance to ensure that all legal
and compliance standards, policies and procedures were adhered to and complied with.
Served as a member of the APAC Operating Committee, advising the Regional President,
GMs and function heads in the APAC region; and was a member of Avon s Global Senior
Leadership Team.
Drafted and negotiatied all significant contracts in region, and for handled governance
matters relating to the region s corporate entities. Functioned as the in house attorney for
the Australia/New Zealand market, advising on all legal matters. Managed defense of
Avon s intellectual property against infringement and counterfeiting. Ensured
implementation of corrective actions related to legal and ethics and compliance issues in
the wake of an ongoing Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigation and monitoring by the
US Department of Justice. Had lead legal responsibility for special projects, including new
market entries and restructuring projects. Responsible for counseling HR on regional
matters and on those matters involving potential litigation.

Chief compliance officer for Asia Pacific Region. Principal responsibility for leading and
administering Avon s Ethics and Compliance programs in the Asia Pacific region, as well
as delivering counseling and training to the local markets in all areas related to ethics and
compliance in the wake of a FCPA investigation by the US Department of Justice and
Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Assisted by a staff including a Regional Compliance Counsel and Regional Compliance
Project manager, held responsibility for training, counseling and implementation of Avon s
global compliance policies and procedures related to anti corruption, FCPA and Bribery
Act compliance, data privacy, antitrust/competition law, insider trading, conflicts of
interest, and code of conduct. Additional responsibilities included conducting third party
due diligence of vendors, new market entries, JVs and alliance partners; conducting
monitoring for compliance with Avon policies and procedures; working with internal and
external auditors to assist with compliance audits; and overseeing and conducting internal
investigations of alleged violations of Avon s policies, procedures and code of conduct.
Personally designed code of conduct and anti corruption training specifically tailored for

Textile Products Division Counsel (Greensboro, North Carolina; November 1994 September
1996): Direct responsibility for all legal matters associated with Ciba Geigy s US dyes and textile
chemicals operations including counseling on strategic business issues, acquisitions, antitrust, trade,
marketing, environmental and regulatory matters; negotiation and drafting of contracts; litigation
and claims resolution, construction and trade issues.
McIntosh Plant Counsel (McIntosh, Alabama; May 1990 November 1994): Served as first on
site counsel to Ciba Geigy s largest manufacturing facility, with responsibility for all of the site s
legal matters, including environmental, regulatory, litigation, labor, construction and contracts.
Negotiated four CERCLA Consent Decrees with EPA and successfully challenged EPA listing of an
additional operative unit at the site.
