Ensures SOPS are written and up to date for the Community Recreation Division. Meets division suspenses and deadlines for the division to the Garrison and the region/headquarters. Writes statements of work for contracting and ensures contracts are submitted properly. Interviews possible candidates for positions, hires, follows EEO guidelines and counsels employees as needed. Overall responsibilities as the CRD Chief ensures staff properly plans events, markets events, schedules their staff, maintains proper timekeeping, keeps facilities operating properly and maintained well, keeps their budgets in line to what they budgeted for the year and ensure the morale is well maintained. Submits ISR and ACRROS reports for CRD, works in DCPDS, and in FMBS. Manages multiple and concurrent projects and events. CRD is active with FMWRDS at White Sands. Duties: Responsible for developing a special events yearly plan. Implements and evaluates events and their effectiveness within the White Sand Community. Develop SOPs, timelines, suspenses for other activity managers, briefings of the event with the Garrison Commander and the Commanding General and evaluation system for each event. Events range from medium to large events. Develop relationships with co-workers at White Sands and local Las Cruces community members. Year long planning on the "Bataan Death March" which draws over 4,400 participants yearly. Coordination of the set up, security, on site medical needs, volunteers, food, race day timing and website are the major requirements need to coordinate this size event on a yearly basis. Also acts as the DMWR Environmental Control Officer. Ensures compliance with all environmental issues in the MWR facilities. Conducts assist visits with the facility managers to ensure compliance with all policies. Meets suspenses for reporting of all environmental deficiencies. Acting CRD Chief in the absence of the BRD Chief for three months. Overseas the Sports, pool, community center, arts and crafts, auto skills, ITR, and outdoor recreation programs.
