Hanford Smith possesses 10 years of customer support and training experience with Federal clients, most notably in the HHS/NIH domain. He has a very strong general knowledge of the Microsoft Office family of software products, a profound desire to share knowledge, and a patient, understanding approach. He has designed and developed training materials for the HHS HRSA EHBs (Electronic Handbooks) for the past 5 years, and prior was a training specialist/training manager for HHS NIH CIT Training for 5 years.

Mr. Smith has facilitated many different forms of training, such as traditional classroom training, brown-bag sessions, workshops, and web training. He has created user manuals, leaflets, quick reference and user guides, storyboards, and newsletters. Mr. Smith is proficient in the creation of self-help videos utilizing Adobe Captivate, and other video editing software.

His fifteen years of experience in information technology and his technical skills provide a wide base of knowledge to draw from. Training Specialist/Training Manager, HHS National Institutes of Health (NIH) Center for Information Technology (CIT) Training Branch (TB), SAIC, Bethesda, MD, August 2005-May 2010

As a Training Manager, Mr. Smith managed a training program as an assistant to the Branch Chief. He oversaw all aspects of the CIT Training program, which included facilitation of training sessions, development of training materials, active support of other instructors, and setting up and managing the classroom environment. Mr. Smith collaborated with Scientists, Subject Matter Experts, and IT specialists to develop solutions for delivery of scientific and IT classes. Mr. Smith regularly taught 7- 9, three hour classes per semester in a program that had 3 semesters a year, with typical attendance of 15 to 30 students in each class. He also participated in the design and development of eLearning materials. He was an integral part of the design and implementation of a web based training registration application developed specifically for the program.
