Hindalco Industries Ltd. Unit-Birla Copper (Gujarat ) (July 2006 to October 2014)
Worked in operations department of continuous copper smelter, since July 2006.With a capacity of 500000 MTPA, Birla Copper is world’s largest custom based integrated copper smelter at a single location. An Integrated plant with facilities of sulphuric acid, phosphoric acids, precious metal (Gold & Silver) A world class manufacturing unit & ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001 certified Company.
ACHIEVEMENT:-
Worked during commencement of Mitsubishi smelter & played a crucial role in establishing the operation.
Awarded the title “Value leader” in Aditya Birla Group annual awards 2011 for demonstration of commitment in actions for saving a huge production loss by a brave action.
Reduced dust loss of concentrate dryer bag house from 240 mg/Nm3 to 48 mg/Nm3 & won 3rd prize in ABG annual awards December 2010. New vendor development & design change in Bag filter lead to approximately saving of INR 20 million/ annum.
Nominated for Chairman’s Young Achiever Award 2009 (group wide) for cost saving initiatives.
Played a pivotal role in bringing down the Arc furnace CL- Slag copper loss from 0.83 to 0.72 against designed value of 0.70 percent of slag cleaning furnace (Electric Arc Furnace).Saving of approximately INR 120 million/ annum. Helped to improve Metal recovery.
Lead a team that improved the Pneumatic Feed tank availability by 15% decreased its down time and developed SOP for smooth operation of the same. Improved reliability of the feeding system.
22% Reduction in contract Man power supply labor by work distribution & effective utilization of resources.
Reduction in Heavy earth movement machinery bye 1 number through effective utilization of equipments, saving of approximately INR 4 million/ annum.
Controlled the problem of White Metal formation in converting furnace.
Reduced Off gas flow to 180000 Nm3/hr against 224000 Nm3/hr and improved the Sulphur (95%) recovery to Sulphuric acid plant.
