Engineering Project Experience
2012 Honours Numerical modeling and experimental study on an innovative hollowed wall panel system.
Project Scope: A new precast wall panel system composed of inside thin-skin steel tube and external lightweight concrete was proposed. Compared with traditional products, the proposed system has the following advantages: light-weight, high loading capacity, good thermal/acoustic property; good fire resistance performance. The project involved numerical simulation and a series of compressive/bending tests on the proposed panels, to determine the section capacity and M-N relationship for panels with different thickness and different concrete density.
Employability skills developed:
Laboratory Testing
Cold-formed steel structure design
Concrete design
FEM Simulation
Team work
Communication
