Project Manager Oct 2011-Present

Responsible for providing engineering and project management leadership on all projects from start to finish. Project value ranged anywhere from $20K to 4mil.

Put together a cross-functional project integrated teams consisting of people from varied backgrounds and skills like Mechanical Designers, Sales Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers and Quality Engineers for designing Compressor systems of high reliability and great quality.

Managed the project from design phase to installation of the compressor package at plant. Created Job release package with the help of Sales Engineer. Defined project scope based upon customer specification documents.

Coordinated and led project kick off meeting with project-integrated team to study project scope, review and document risks, budgets (including labor time allocations and material cost allocations) and project time line. Established dates for project review meetings.

Created a project schedule to track all phases of the project. Added project review meetings in the project schedule.

Designed and Developed equipment layout in 3D using Autodesk Inventor to meet project scope. Created General Arrangement drawings of the equipment layout, assembly drawings and part drawings in Autodesk Inventor with the help of mechanical designers.

Created Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) in AutoCAD V 2010 showing pneumatic system. Also created piping layout for hydraulic and pneumatic system. Designed the bedplate/skid, which were manufactured by AWS certified welder-using TIG welding.

Created Electrical schematics and designed PLC (Siemens and Allen Bradley) based control system for running and controlling compressor pump using electric motor. Designed electrical control systems for the compressor system.

Participated in Hazardous Operation (HAZOP) site safety reviews with customers. Reviewed the process flow diagram and schematics during reviews and addressed safety concerns from the meeting with design modifications.

Conducted preliminary and critical design review with integrated project team. Performed drawing reviews and suggested modifications to design during reviews.

Implemented design modifications and created engineering design package after completion of the above-mentioned tasks. Released engineering design package for procurement of materials, parts, instruments and assemblies.

Solicited bids from various sub-contractors/suppliers. Selected suitable sub-contactors/suppliers for parts, instruments, devices and sub-assembly. Managed ordering of the parts and sub-assemblies from external sub-contractors/manufacturers with the help of buyer.

Worked with Quality to create quality plans and during incoming inspection to verify that parts and sub assemblies meet drawing requirements.

Coordinated with manufacturing department during fabrication/assembly of the compressor package and supported test technicians during final testing. Performed validation reviews with integrated team after final testing.

Met project deadlines throughout the course of project while staying within budget and time constraints. Provided customer updates on weekly or monthly basis depending upon the complexity of the projects.

Worked with state and international regulatory agencies to get product certificates/permits. Worked UL labs to get CE certificate for the compressor system. Worked with Massachusetts State board to get product acceptance certificate.

Interacted with field service engineer and customer during compressor system commissioning at customer site/plant. Visited customer plant/site during installation when supplier requested engineering presence. Helped customer with tuning, troubleshooting and repair for the installed compressor systems.

After successful installation of the compressor system package set up a lessons learned meeting with integrated team for project analysis. Submitted final documentation to customer. Performed project close out after uploading all documents to database. Then closed all work orders in ERP system.

woodward hrt Santa Clarita, California

Sr. Project Engineer April 2008-Oct 2011

Technical project lead responsible for mechanical design and development of control actuation systems used in multiple defense and aerospace related product lines. Led development programs from planning and conception design to production release phase.

Prepared proposals based upon customer requests for new product design and development. Prepared rough order of magnitude (ROM) budgets for exploratory projects.

Upon acceptance of Purchase order, generated an engineering project schedule clearly outlining dates for all phases of the program. Worked with Manager to maintain project schedule and tracked project to schedule. Prepared status reports to provide update on project progress to groups, management and customer

Used manpower resources allocation guidelines to identify man-hours needed to complete a project from design to production release. Created Design to cost tree (DTC) to compare labor cost, material cost, tooling cost and overheads. Maintained accurate records of committed dollars to spent dollars with design to cost tree.

Directed team on design approach and identified areas of optimization during design phase. Tracked material cost and made sure it meets DTC. Performed trade-offs on various design approaches and parameters to select the optimal design that meets DTC. Worked with manufacturing engineering to make sure labor cost and tooling cost meets DTC targets.

Prepared verification/qualification and environmental test plans and procedures. Worked with Test Engineering Group to perform verification/validation tests on newly developed products. Analyzed test data in order to validate product against performance requirements and also wrote qualification/verification test reports for customer and company database.
