PROFILE
My name is Jordan, and I’m currently studying psychology and sociology with a focus in pre-law at a 4-year school, Shimer College. I’m a tutor, mental health activist, writer, public speaker, figure skater, and musician. I love working with people, and helping others succeed.
EXPERIENCE
Program Manager, Shimer College; Chicago, IL 2016 -- Present
Working for the Department of Student Life, I’m in charge of writing and publishing the student newsletter, organizing and promoting events, and developing and implementing new programs. Most days, I work at the service desk, answering phone calls and questions for students who come in. I also schedule and review hours worked by other students working for our department.
Field Manager, Human Rights Campaign; Chicago, IL April 2016 August 2016
My responsibilities included training new employees, and helping them assimilate; motivating teams of workers to stay focused; developing new training plans; organizing management meetings; and resolving conflicts in the field. In addition to field work, I scheduled interviews and introduced newcomers at the front desk. I only work here seasonally, because they do not offer flexible part-time hours during the semester.
Operations Coordinator, The Rinks at Anaheim Ice; Anaheim, CA 2015 2016
At the ice rink, my job tasks varied greatly depending on the day. Some days I worked program office/front desk/guest services, which involved book-keeping, employee scheduling, answering calls, handling cash, servicing guests, and using Excel to create Learn-to-Skate schedules. Other days, I supervised the floor, which included breaking employees, cash-outs, major and minor retail sales, and creating a smooth shift for everyone working. Lastly, I would work on the ice, tending to birthday parties, public skate lessons, and maintaining the safety of everyone skating. I left The Rinks at Anaheim Ice in California to pursue my education in Chicago.
Nanny and Tutor, Families of Floral Park; Santa Ana, CA 2010 2016
In the neighborhood of Floral Park, I obtained a wonderful reputation for nannying and tutoring with compassion and structure. I tutored grade-school students ages 6-17 in English, and the social sciences. I did overnight stays for many families, which involved handling medications, meal preparation, homework, and entertainment. I worked especially tutoring disabled students with an IEP (Individualized Education Program).
