Reduced contract manufacturing and material cost. After a major merger in Aviat Networks, cut global contract manufacturers from 6 to 2 and consolidated disparate supply chains to reduce/leverage manufacturing and material cost. Results: Reduced direct material cost by 10% ($28M) in first year and achieved continuing 8-10% ongoing annual cost reduction. Cut manufacturing overhead by 15% through leveraged organizations.

Reengineered complex global logistics networks. Consolidated 50 service providers and 40+ distribution centers, cut delivery cycle times and increased on-time delivery in HP’s Enterprise Systems business. Results: Reduced to 3 service providers and 3 distribution centers, cut cycle times by 75%, increased global on-time delivery to 98%.

Reduced product manufacturing lead times. Implemented strategic component/subassembly stocking and postponement strategies at our contract manufacturers, launched VMI programs and utilized advanced planning/simulation tools in S&OP function.
